Mirai is up for an Oscar from the Academy Awards and a Golden Globe in the Animation Category! (Updated 1/22/19)

I went to see this one the other night. It's a story about family, and the bonds you form consciously and unconsciously between the past, the present, and the future.
A very true to life tale that I think resonates strongly with parents and grandparents.
Its competition for the title?
"Incredibles 2"
"Isle of Dogs"
"Ralph Breaks the Internet"
"Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse"Think it's deserving of the Golden Globe in Animation?
-
I always look at these awards nominations and think...
This is just wrong.I see some kids/family American animation that doesn't have much of a message, just made for one family night and some other Drama anime movie.
And it just feels like they ain't made for the same audience or shouldn't be competing for the same award...

It is but the deserving ones almost never win these things. The whole point of GG and Oscars is to promote the ones who don't deserve.

With Incredibles 2 on that list, does anything else even stand a chance?

I know it's late to comment on this (old news)
Spider Man wonat least it was something Different and not bland/same Hollywood animation often that won in the past
-
@jon-mitchell I would say Spider-man qualifies as "different" from the usual Hollywood animation.
P.S. Just saw it. Well deserving of the Oscar.
-
Yeah Spider-Man is the first American animated film I’ve seen in ages that genuinely tries to do something different with animation.
I liked but didn’t love it, but am still happy that something that worked so hard to break new ground won.

I think it is poetic that (I think) Stan Lee's last cameo is in the film that won the Oscar and in in the franchise he created.
