Saeki-san to, Hitotsu Yane no Shita
Publisher: Famitsu Bunko (Enterbrain)
Genres: Comedy, Romance, School Life
Status: Complete - 5 volumes
Author: Kuyou
Illustrator: Fly (Jaku Chara Tomozaki-kun)
LNDB, MAL
Synopsis:
Entering 2nd year of high school, Yumizuki moved to apartment because 2 hours commuting from home was tiring.
However, there was a mistake made by the real estate.
When he was about to move in, another tenant already started to move to the apartment he supposed to stay; a beautiful girl who just returned from America, Saeki Kirika.
Because of their personal circumstances none could concede, so we have the usual cohabitation setting~To bless your day~
How to explain it better?
It's cozy heartwarming romcom (not that much of ecchi-type), Yumizuki might be kinda blunt or harsh (which seems to have some backstory to it in volume 4)It seems that the story gets a bit heavy at some point (volume 4) before ending in upbeat atmosphere with volume 5.

Why not, the synopsis sound a bit stupid and cliché, but if it's well executed it can make for a fun read.

@raitoiro
And not like we have that many romcom to quench anyone's thirst tbh.
Slow and sweet, age-gap, ecchi-type, etc.
I am OK with any type as long as it focuses on romance instead of just harem or some other main plot.
We don't really have that many of those. (which slightly breaks my heart) -
Illustrations 1-5 ....Enjoy!!! D:

@bloodygaikotsu True we are laking in that that type of novel, aside from Toradora and I want to eat your pancreas, i can't really think of any
Well, the problem with romance novel, is that sometime they don't manage to stay interesting the whole time, like Toradora for exemple where the last arc is quite a pain to go throught, i hope this one don't fell here. -
@raitoiro Oregairu does count in twisted way? :D
-
@theredjet
I won't.
Even as subplot, the romance ain't that much of a focus.Well, I think we only have 4-5 Romance novels:
Seven Seas:
Toradora (Romcom)
I want to eat your pancreas (Tragedy)
Strawberry Panic (Yuri)JNC:
An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Slave Elf Bride (Fantasy)Yen Press
Spice & Wolf(Fantasy/Subtle romance)VIZ had many but most of them are outta print
Yen Press had Fujoshi Kanajo (My Girlfriend's a Geek) but it seems like it's outta print now -

I can say the same things about non-Romance novels too, as well...

@bloodygaikotsu Yes but i feel like it's really common with romance and not just in LN, a lot of them have a strong start but fail at keeping thing interesting in the second half, like Ore no Monogatari.
I think it's because in many case, the author try to saved the moment protagonistes end up together for the very end, which end up draging thing. That why i feel that serie like Bunny Girl Sempai where they don't take a whole saison to get together and by doing that also don't have too much clichés, are overall more interresting and better rythme (well in that exemple it's also that the plot isn't strictly romance). -
You forgot to add Beast Head for JNC. That's a pure romance novel.
Also, a number of Cross Infinite World novels are romance-focused too; maybe some more than others like: Obsessions of an Otome Gamer and I Became the Secretary of a Hero. Though I know their infrequent releases will put off some people.

That one totally slipped my mind (even tho, I saw the translator tweeting about it before I type this comment lol)

@raitoiro
Well that's what people call Romcom.
In Fantasy terms, that's like defeating the demon lord in the 2nd chapter~Also, Buta Seishun or Monogatari or any other series where it starts with blocking the romcom aspect from the start (except for SAO), it's to turn the audience attention from "just who will win" to the actual themes the story hold. (those 2 examples are coming of age/teen drama with supernatural elements as plot device, after all)
So, instead of just people wondering "is it Yuki or Yui or Saika?", it's more about the stories these characters have to tell. (or just who's the cutest...)
Well, in Romance/Drama, the focus is different from romcom (so they have different audience, I feel like you hit it up with drama-type/tragedy more)
Well, in this title:
Vol. 1-2: Romcom
Vol. 3: It seems it would be a bit heavy cuz there's some distance between the main characters
Vol.4: The heaviest as they go into some characters' background and kinda like the end.
Vol.5: After 2 heavy vols, he decided to give some fan-service (not swimsuit type but having a couple event) and end the series on happy note (instead of dramatic one). -
Author got a new work releasing today.
Main heroine on cover 1 I believe is his Senpai that likes him and she'll be battling his sister in law from his father's other marriage (he now lives with them after his single mother died).
