@bloodygaikotsu By and large I love Ryu Murakami (although I hated “Almost Transparent Blue” and couldn’t get into Coin Locker Babies). Popular Hits from the Showa Era was, to me, a very very good and brilliantly funny one and probably my favorite by him I’ve read. Piercing and Audition are great too. I was just prompted to pick up Tokyo Decadence from seeing it in your pile. I feel he will be pretty great at short fiction.
Happy to see you have Lala Pipo, enjoy! 6 4 is also a very good police procedural. Loved that one.

@terrence Haha, I got Boogiepop in the same sale!

@the-green-death
I heard that his Kyoko is very different and hopeful and it was translated in English once before but I ain't able to find it...
like I want to see this different Ryu... -
Other than every LN that JNC is translating, I'm reading The Devil is a Part-timer and Sword Art Online.

Finished the first two volumes of Dee Werewolf and thought they were both solid. A lot happened in volume two, way more than I expected.
Also finished volume four of Empty Box. So so so good, maybe my favorite light novel series. Can't wait for volume five.

Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute
Grimgar 11 -
Finished volumes 2 of both Abilities and Combat Baker. Abilities was fun and Combat baker was surprisingly touching.
Digging into So I’m a Spider vol. 3. A great series. I like the depressing nature of the rest of the class’ reincarnations and their world played against the crazy freewheeling amoral inner dialog and dungeon crawl of our spider heroine. There also seem to be some rather fatalistic ideas on the nature of free will v determinism. Surprisingly deep for what it is

@cosm1cfall is it an isekai, the summary ive seen makes it out to be pure fantasy.

@galactuskahn24 a character, the hero, was isekai'd but the protagonist is a resident of the new world.

Finished So I'm a Spider 3. One of the best LNs out there, I'm curious to see where it goes from here. It's going to have a tough time keeping up the momentum but I'm hopeful.
I also started A Sisters All You Need 2. Pretty demented but very funny and I like the light novel industry stuff.
Also on Welcome to Japan Ms. Elf and am only so-so on it this far.

Well, I made a New Year's resolution to read 100 novel volumes this year so this is as good a place as any to track that; will be updating every week with what I read. So...
#1: Infinite Dendrogram, Vol. 4: Yeah I'm behind on this, but anyway this is good stuff.
#2: Apparently It's My Fault My Husband Has the Head of a Beast, Vol. 2 (prepubs): Pretty good volume on its own but it ends rather abruptly and there's apparently no more of it...
#3: Cooking with Wild Game, Vol. 1 (prepubs): Really enjoying this one, with its character-centric focus.
#4: I Shall Survive Using Potions!, Vol. 1 (prepubs): FUNA's stuff is so much fun. (Hopefully I can add some Average Abilities volumes to this list, too.)
#5: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, Vol. 8 (prepubs): My favorite JNC title at the moment.
Here are the other prepubs I'm following (some of them I finished their recent volumes but I'm not including them on the list because I read too much of them before the year turned over):
In Another World With My Smartphone
Outbreak Company
The Master of Ragnarok
Elf Bride
Amagi Brilliant Park
Kokoro Connect
Bakarina
Welcome to Japan, Ms. ElfThere's also plenty of other novels on my reading list, including non-JNC titles; some of them should appear on next week's list.

@stardf29 I’m also doing a 100 books in 2019 challenge. I tend to read less during summer or holidays so I’m trying to get as many as I can in in the first six months!
