      Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi

I also read Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi. I didn't list it cause I thought that they wouldn't try to license it due to adult content. It would be nice if they did seeing as the scanlator has retired.

I'm praying someone announces the license of Slayers this year, especially now that Hajime Kanzaka started a sequel series last year.

Well, good thing that people revived this thread; was planning to review the names mentioned after Sakuracon and see how much we can scratch off...

So, since I don't think YP or Vertical are planning to announce anything soon, let's summarize the first quarter of the year.

Personally, I didn't get to scratch anything but that doesn't apply to some titles here~

                        Summery:

Ascendance of a Bookworm (Was mentioned by 3 people here, licensed by JNC, and got print run from the get-go!)

@Hyperion wanted KimiSen and it was licensed in a month after it was mentioned here by YP (He's also the one who suggest Crest of the stars lol)

@the-green-death wanted more Higashino and YP heard him!
The Miracles of the Namiya General Store. by Keigo Higashino was licensed. (excited for this)

@stardf29 listed types of works they wanna see more instead of just titles, but I think it was too big of a net tbh lol
Novels about family: 40 Eigyou-man was licensed (it was on @Terrence 's bingo from last AX)
                        Fluffy slice-of-life: Would Yuri count?

& everyone is wondering what @Rahul-Balaggan has on Sam to get this many food works so close to each other.

Edit: Did't notice till later but @Hakogami mentioned "Seikai series (novel)- Hiroyuki Morioka" (Crest/Banner of the stars series that got licensed)

Honestly, I don't really like having my own top 10 specific titles I want licensed for various reasons. Most notably, I feel it puts too much focus on getting specific titles licensed (and thus getting disappointed when they don't get licensed), rather than getting the chance to try out and possibly enjoy whatever does get licensed. Also, I wanted that list such that it's very well possible that one title from every category gets licensed this year.

So here's how my list shakes out so far:

                            1. Family: yeah, that's definitely the businessman isekai. Really looking forward to that one.
                            1. Fluffy slice-of-life: I'd say Campfire Cooking fits this pretty well; I think businessman isekai will too. Maybe the vampire sister one as well. Maybe some of the other stuff other companies have licensed, too?
                            1. Stuff I liked the anime for: Crest of the Stars. Huge pickup there for me.
                            1. Good isekai: Bookworm, full stop. Campfire Cooking is great too, albeit more for how hilarious it is. Jury's out on the rest.
                            1. Non-LN novels: Crest of the Stars, actually, is more of a general "young adult" novel series, so yeah, that counts here. Obviously the other Hayakawa titles.
                            1. Stuff I'm not interested in but others are: I know both KimiSen and Wortenia had lots of votes in the forums so I'm glad those got picked up even if I'm personally not interested in them.

That leaves Alphapolis (probably the hardest one to get), VRMMO, and modern life stuff, with good romance as something I'd need to read first to judge.

                          MAL
Beneath the Tangles (the blog I write for)

Well, I do have a lot of titles that I want and it seems that I am disappointed all the time lol
However, these titles do work as indication to what I usually like, so similar stuff are always welcome—yet, I can't see a lot of these type of works (outside Vertical licenses, which already are not a lot)

Stuff like Romance (Romcom or tragedy), (teen) drama, Dark psychological (either horror or drama or thriller), mystery.
                            Which ain't genres I see a lot.

I'm really happy Three Days of Happiness was licensed even though it wasn't on my list. I hope it does well enough that more by the author is brought over like Seven Seas has done with Yoro Sumino.

Two have been licensed from my list: Bunny Girl Senpai and Our Last Crusade (KimiSen). Crest of the Stars was a bonus since I didn't have it on my list and my suggestion topic probably came after it was already licensed.

I find this quite interesting, like I wonder if it's new trend in making or the market has grown enough to for more different titles.
It's not only these quasi-LN contemporary works but it almost like there's some sort of nostalgia to early 2010's authors and works [Kei Sazane, DxD, Chivalry of a Failed Knight (and his isekai)]
Wonder if Bunny Girl Senpai anime or other old-style LN anime has hand in this

We also got 2 new upcoming submarket (Yuri LN aside from Yuri Scifi novels of JNC and now, shoujo novels)

I see a number of posts/topics about wish lists (and lots of forum topics about titles we’d like to see licensed/translated) so the question I have is this: should I pretty much never get my hopes up that a anime I saw/liked will get licensed by JNC if Kodakawa produced the anime? I mean they are part of the partnership than owns Yen Press, wouldn’t that give Yen Press first right of refusal or some other advantages? I don’t have any against YP, but they don’t necessarily publish whatever it was that. I wanted (or as fast/well as JNC)

                                      I read banned books

@jon-mitchell Sam said at the panel that he does not have access to a majority of Kadokawa's branches, so yea, don't expect JNC to get any popular Kado series that had an anime recently or even will have one in the future.

For me, both Chivalry of a Failed Knight and Highschool DxD were on the top of my wishlist, so the fact that both got licensed has made me more than happy. Other than those though, none of the others that I would really like to see licensed got in.
