I've just noticed: in the opening scene of episode 1, the Head Priest (blue haired guy, High Priest in LN translation) has been shampooing his hair. I just checked that his hair is normal in episode 14 (which chronologically is earlier.)

@libri-liberorum nice catch. I can just imagine the animators doing the equivalent of yelling "Hey Joe, is Ferdinand using shampoo by this scene?"

Morning and Mourning sound alike for good and sufficient reasons.

@libri-liberorum As @jcochran said very nice catch. Wait do Benno, Effa etc start doing their hair too at some point?

The connection between tau fruit and trombe tree, and its big scary form is not known until Part 2, so spoiler for anime only people.

I wonder if that is some kind of joke of the animation team. There is definitely no mention of High Priest using the shampoo in the LN up to the end of P2-V2 where that takes place. It would be really interesting to see if they really change his hair in the middle of part 2 in anime.

Effa was immediately using it the first day Myne started using it, so she is always shiny since. I had no recollection of Benno talking about using the shampoo, so looked at the anime and noticed that he is shiny starting on episode 10, when they were talking about the issue with the new shampoo workshop. I'm pretty impressed that Lutz, was only shiny when Myne washed him for meeting with Otto/Benno. That would change in Part 2 when he start working in the store.

@hiroto If I had to guess the order that people started using Myne's shampoo it would be:

                        • Myne
                        • Tulli
                        • Effa
                        • Lutz
                        • Corinna
                        • Bento

After that it was generally available.

                        Edit to add:
Ferdinand, being both a noble and fairly intelligent, probably started using it after meeting Myne, Lutz and Benno. (Hmmm. Their hair looks very good for commoners.) Myne's attendants, especially the girls, are probably using it too. It would be no surprise to me if Effa has started using it on Gunther by this point.

@hiroto the tau fruit is the 1st picture, not the second one.

@hiroto Yeah, Lutz having used shampoo (or, well, "rinsham") is usually fairly clear, since his hair becomes neat and tidy rather than the usual scruffy look, in addition to the shine.

I remember noticing that Benno's hair started shining as well, with no comment about it, and I immediately thought "ah, he's been using his own product". Same as Mark.

Also Otto got shiny hair after Myne gave Corrina the rinsham. In fact, the biggest surprise for me was that Gunther appears to not bother using rinsham.

@unsynchedcheese I forgot about Mark and Otto! I suspect Otto was less of a hard sell than Gunther. Mark would probably fall in line right after Benno.

@paul-nebeling Yeah, you can kind of see the hair status of everyone (introduced thus far) in the opening, especially in the big group shot at the end. And I checked in the relevant episodes, and the people who used rinsham as indicated in the opening credits did indeed only get shiny hair after they were provided rinsham through whatever means.

(Well, the Head(/High) Priest is the possible outlier, due to spoiler reasons.)

For an anime that definitely seems a bit lower budget it did pay enough attention to characters' hair and gave the series a longer than standard 14 episodes indicates some level of care/love put into it by the studio.

Gunther would look weird with shiny hair I'd say~ also he is a soldier, and would stand out in a strange way if he got shiny hair don't cha think?
It's Ok on Otto because he is the son in law of a big fashion store though.

More information on the Part 2 anime is coming out in 12 hours. It’ll probably either be more VA announcements like last time or some DVD&BD information.
Really hoping it’s the latter with it revealing that the BD box set is titled 「神殿の巫女見習い 誓いの儀式と側仕え~癒しの儀式」(Apprentice Shrine Maiden: "Attendants and the Fealty Ceremony" to "The Healing Ritual") and that it has 12 episodes (or that it has a different title but is two cour). It would match them announcing that the BD box set for the Part 1 anime was titled 「兵士の娘 新しい生活~決着」(Daughter of a Solider: "A New Life" to "Confrontation") with a 14 episode count back in August.
Watch it not be BD information after I’ve gotten my hopes up again after last time.

With 12 episodes, shorter than 14 of the first season, there is a good chance that this will end at the end of Part 2, Vol 2, keeping LN releases safely ahead of anime releases.
