Ascendance of a Bookworm - anime discussion

Oh, it just occurred to me. This was a HUGE spoiler for English LN reader. When the volume containing this story comes out, you have already know the contents of one of the side story.
You will be totally disappointed when you start reading that story because you have seen this OVA and that there is no element of surprise there. And don't you all look forward to see what kind of POV you will see at the end of each volume? Well, sorry to say that 50% of that joy of opening that last part for that volume is gone.
Also, what kills me is that this story is much more dramatic in the context it is originally shown in LN. Now I realized what bothering me is not that OVA is spoiling main story line about those two characters. It spoiled this side story which is much more enjoyable after learning those characters, their relationship with Myne and HP, and presented in the context which was removed from OVA.
It is like doing this in a small scale.

I watched episode 1 of the anime and then avoided all further episodes.
I don't want any spoilers, and would rather just wait years to be fully caught up with the Japanese volumes...
-
@Justaidan right... there's a lot of adaptations that don't do so well.
I can't quite grasp what you're saying about after the anime aired (may just be me not resting very much). I imagine that you mean that there's nothing else that supports bookworm aside from the anime and LN, or that no one was that into it to where they wanted more, yes? In that case, it would boil down to whether they see making more of the Bookworm anime is better or not, if I got things right.About the idiots @jcochran : they can't reveal who they're working for. you have to acknowledge that there is basically no sense of privacy rights. All they would really know is that Myne is this commoner daughter of a soldier who has a large coin she can give and a lot of mana. I doubt that Ferdinand would give much else away, if not less than what we've seen; Ferdinand only knew that Myne had a whole studio when she decided to talk about giving the coin in pieces. Not even ____ is given that much info, and had originally assumed that him being an attendant to Myne was him being inferior. Gray robed priests are also not nobility; it is sound all the way to commoner's ears that they are not equal to them, and are merely found orphans.

Jnovel saw an increase in membership of people just looking for the LN of bookworm. This is an example of the anime-as-an-advert for the LN.

It's unlikely that a second season of Bookworm will be made unless the anime industry has really changed its normal method of operation for the last decade. In general the anime isn't really worth it unless it improves the sales of the LN, if the LN is already selling well then the anime isn't really needed so it is only when there is a LN series that whose sales could be increased that you generally see an anime for.

Sales of the series in Japan had significant boost after anime started. I track the number here.

@22144418 they don't have to say who they're working for. They're nobles asking questions of commoners about a commoner.

You mean a third season? Or are you counting the two cours as a single season? Part 2 begins airing in like two weeks.
-
@LegitPancake Both "seasons" where originally requested together so there wasn't actually a second season green lit by those making the decisions on what gets made. It was one 24 episode season. In contrast something like Konosuba or Re:Zero both had/have 2nd seasons.
-
Second season starts 4/4/20 if interested
-
@dawnmm Yep. While I don't think it will be as good as the books just due to time constraints it is great to watch it from outside Myne's perspective. The standout moments are obviously things like seeing how Myne presented herself when Crushing the High Bishop and how surreal/otherworldly Myne appears when questioning Lutz about when does he think she replaced the original Myne.
-
@LegitPancake I actually liked the series a lot from episode 2 on. I thought the 1st episode very slow but I liked how it picked up
-
It is already 4/1 in Japan.
Translation:
(Right) The story now moves onto rice field
(Left) New Chapter of Farming Fantasy for Rice Lovers

@hiroto so I see it's a heart warming slice of life tale of a little girl suffering from a rare sickness called beriberi. Should be fun to watch.
-
Second season OP song is posted.
BTW, @Rahul-Balaggan, do we continue on with this topic, or maybe we should start 2nd season topic separately?
-
@hiroto continue here, unless anyone out there can think of a good enough reason that S2 needs a new topic.
-
Here is an interesting challenge. What scene could this be within the context of P2V1 - P2V2? This is from a teaser video for S2.
EDIT: Only time I can think of Myne getting this mad is when the book room was messed up. But in this scene, Myne is definitely sitting, and doesn't fit that situation. Seems to be more like being mad at somebody she is talking with, but honestly I cannot recollect such occurrence in P2V1/P2V2.
-
@hiroto the note passing from Benno to Myne during the meeting with HP donating 5 small gold.
-
@hiroto Myne being told she can't read the documents on magic.

Good candidate, but it was more of Myne's internal anger, not visible like this. In anime, I expect that scene to be depicted with chibi Myne.

@hiroto Myne being told she can't read the documents on magic.
She was kind of sad, and it was not depicted as being outright angry like this.
“It seemed that the High Priest knew all along that I had actually been hoping that he would show them to me.
“High Priiiest...”
“My answer will not change. Return to your chambers at once,” he ordered with an ice-cold glare. I slumped my shoulders and left the room.
...Tch. I wanted to see those magic documents. The High Priest’s just a big meanie.”
