Rokujouma Kickstarter Campaign

@rahul-balaggan Ugh, what a time for it to finally happen, right when Kickstarter is dodgily firing staff that unionised making me not want a bar of them.
-
I wanted just to say “Nice” but I must be at least 8 characters tall
-
@rahul-balaggan Wohoo!!!!

I am NOT impressed with Kickstarter... I'm generally very good with puzzles; their recaptcha use requires several attempts to get it right when they dial the "static" up to "pictures received from beyond Pluto" level. And I've been waiting several minutes for the payments page to display...
Hmmm... kickstarter is very sensitive to security settings; Had to switch to a browser set to just above "infect me now" to get it to complete the transaction. Took longer than the "early bird" options were available.

Wow already at half of the total goal nice

Never signed up for Kickstarter, anyone know how reasonable the prices are for shipping to the UK?
How often I feel that I am on the wrong side of the Atlantic after moving back across....
-
Hopefully we reach the 70k goal for the drama CDs.

Good question. The website simply says that "Depending on location and pledge tier, shipping charges may range from $20-$150" which is QUITE the range.
If J-Novel club won't/can't tell people in advance what the cost will be then they should at least give people the option to cancel or get refunds in the event that it is more than, say, $35.

The problem is the range of levels and destinations, from some trinkets up to 10 large books and even more trinkets, shipping to anywhere from Texas to Australia.
I remember when I had to calculate shipping on things...

I never said it was easy (I've done shipping myself - it isn't!), and I wouldn't expect the price to the exact cent, but JNC saying it will cost anywhere between $270 and $400 to be an Invader is basically asking backers to gamble.
As noted at https://help.kickstarter.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024255094-What-do-I-do-if-there-are-additional-shipping-costs- "We do urge creators to research and plan all costs involved in completing their project, and communicate realistic expectations for backers,...". JNC basically seem to be saying they don't know what the cost will be, so they are not communicating realistic expectations.
As someone who has been a Premium Member since JNC launched and as a fan of Rokujouma I would like to back this campaign and support JNC, but without knowing approximately what I would be committing to in terms of shipping costs and other fees then as a matter of principle I would find it difficult to support the campaign.
If JNC were are unable to provide a reasonably precise estimate at this stage then I think they should at least offer a free or 'at cost' way for people to withdraw as backers in the event that the costs are excessive.

There's also going to be import duties to consider.

That's true. I mentioned customs issues (e.g. import duties) 3 months ago but at present it doesn't seem to be addressed at all on the Kickstarter page.

The Kickstarter sounds great. One of the main thing which puts me off from many Kickstarters is high shipping costs and uncertainty regarding customs issues due to living outside the US. Hopefully that won't be a barrier for this Kickstarter.
-
The last time I used Kickstarter, it was for Muv Luv and the cost to import both Vita games to Canada from the USA was around $16.
From Play Asia to Canada is around $20 for an $80 game.
This is not including shipping.
Importing a $200 mechanical keyboard to Canada from the USA was around $40.
This is all Canadian prices.

What I'd like to know: I've bought digital copies of all the novels released to date, and have no real interest in paper copies. However, I am interested in the artbook and the drama CD's.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a tier that includes both, besides 'all the paper books'. Forthorthian Citizen includes the artbooks, Sun Rangers includes the drama CDs, but they appear to be mutually exclusive.
The KS page says the drama CD's "will also be available as an optional Add-On via Backerkit", but doesn't describe how that works for people not familiar with Backerkit, nor does it give even a very rough pricing estimate.
So, uh... please, more specifics?
-
@travis-butler IIRC, that means at the end you can add the drama cds by pledging an additional amount regardless of the tier you had chosen.
That's how it worked with the Muv Luv Guide Book.
Edit: If I remember right, the guide book also cost more than if you had pledged the tier for it originally. No idea if JNC will do the same thing.

The campaign just hit it's goal! only took about 6 hours to hit it!
Just needs a little more now to get the collector boxes! -
@village-idiot Yeah, it's the 'no idea if JNC will do the same thing' kind of issue that I'd like to see cleared up. :) So please, specifics, JNC?
