@MyneBookworm thanks. Details of how the name sworn person feels their lord/lady's name is also made clear in later volumes when no? I had totally missed the significance of this part then.
It could also be because I was speed reading to catch up since I discovered this series rather late.

@learn_japanese_ay Even when you aren't rushing, its all too easy to miss stuff the first time around. We've even got an entire thread for people to share the things they only spotted on re-reads 😉

@learn_japanese_ay There are enough namesworn around that there have possibly been a number of scattered, implied references to feeling the mana of their master, even before the concept was officially introduced in Part 4. We definitely got an explicit description of the namesworn being enveloped by their liege’s mana after Rozemyne started actually acquiring an increasing number of such retainers (starting with Roderick).

That Ferdinand was probably namesworn to his father (when the latter was alive) was the topic of some discussion when P4V9 was being translated, but I assume you weren’t here for that yet, based on your remark about trying to catch up. That being said, while many of us thought that to be the case, it had gained further credibility when Ferdinand told Detlinde that he had no name to give and that Veronica also demanded it of him — since that would have in itself been a possible reason to give his name to his father instead, as a measure to protect himself from such demands. It was also the basis on which we suspected way before the actual direct reveal that his namestone was left behind in safety, and that it might have been passed to Rozemyne.

Anyway, as @kuali said, there are plenty of interesting things hidden in the story (sometimes in plain sight, when looking back at them with knowledge from later volumes), and it is easy to miss them if you are just reading the story. Those of us who have been following it for a long time are used to discussing things to death every week while waiting for the next chapter, so we have had the opportunity to uncover much more of these details than would have otherwise been possible. :)

I recommend rereading them all. Book one is a little slow as the series if just starting but the rest are packed with so many fun scenes and things that really influence Myne/Rozemyne.

@MyneBookworm Agreed. I still am rereading part 1 now after watching the anime. Once we know the details, Myne's introduction of the world has another perspective altogether.

                @learn_japanese_ay nods

It took a reread for me to notice that RM's knowledge of the world (how far she could see, so to speak) increased as the series went on. From a single room, to a single apartment, to a section of a single town, and so on. Also, her knowledge of people started with family, then commoners in town, then 'nobles' (really Blue Priests) then actual Nobles, then out-duchy Nobles and even Royals. Now she's coming close to interacting with non-Yurgenschmidt people.

                Her spheres keep getting bigger.

Ive been rereading part 1 as well, do we ever learn more about Benno's siblings in another city and other family. His Uncle Emile has connections with sovereignty supposedly, an extended look at commoners would be cool considered we follow myne into the world of nobles and they fall to the wayside

New part drops, fangirling intensifies - Marielle probably

Part 3 anime by WIT was just announced. The Tweet unfortunately also has the P5V12 cover attached so I’ll put it below a spoiler tag.

@LurkingMcLurk wonder if this one will be the full part or get chunked up like Part 2 did? Either way, the truly important part is that we get to see animated Lessy! Also Punching Grandpa. And the series' true heroine, Angelica.

@kuali it is unlikely to get the full part at once, they have as much content to cover as parts 1 and two combined, and those took a total of 36 episodes (+ ovas), which is a big investment to do all at once and a weird length for a single run of anime, usually they are approved in 1, 2, or 4 ~12 episode cours, with one being by far the most common and 4 being pretty rare since the early 2000s.

I see I was beaten to the punch :-)

I just fervently hope that they don't try to adapt all 5 volumes of part 3 in a 12 episode series. They did take 36 episodes to adapt the previous 7 books of part 1 & 2, so it's hopefully either a 2 cour series or a split like they did for part 2 (as mentioned by @Cooper Cummings.gk5u8qq above)

@elkensteyin With the rate they've been going (cours covering 3, 2, and 2 books each), I was pretty sure P3's 5 books would take 2 cours. The big question was whether they would release two cours together, or split the part down the middle to release single cours separately.

Given the way the story in P3 was structured, I can't think of a great point to cut it (you can't cut before or after the jureve plot because the content would be too unbalanced, and there's no way to cut part way through the plot and make something that feels like a self-contained season), so my guess would be two cours releasing together.

From a pure practicality standpoint, they could break it right after she defeats the Lord of Winter, as that is the exact halfway point of part 3, as well as being the end point of an sub-arc.

Today is (at least in my time zone) the one year anniversary of J-Novel Club releasing Part 1 Volume 1 (Part 1) and after just a year we are now at Part 2 Volume 3 (Part 9). Comparing to the web novel fan-translations, after one year they were at web novel chapter 40 which would be in the middle of Part 1 Volume 2.

And now (in my time zone) it's one day after the two year anniversary and they're at Part 3 Volume 5 (Part 5). Again comparing to the web novel fan-translations, after two years they were at web novel chapter 59 which would be about a third of the way into Part 1 Volume 3.

And now (as always, in my time zone) it's the three year anniversary and they're at Part 4 Volume 6 (Part 7). This is final time where I can compare to the original web novel fan-translations since the they ran for almost exactly three years themselves (2015-12-29-2018-12-24), at their endpoint they were at web novel chapter 96 which is about two thirds of the way into Part 2 Volume 1. The point of the comparison isn't to say that somebody doing it as their hobby is slower than somebody doing it as their job but rather to show just how good the last three years have been for English readers.
Another thing to point out is that in Japan Part 4 Volume 6 came out on 2019-03-09 so they're one release away from being where Japan was when the light novel was announced (ignoring auxiliary material).

Time sure flies. It's now the four year anniversary (in my time zone) and they're at Part 5 Volume 4 (Part 1). This time I'd like to show some four year old messages from the Discord server.

Note: Part 5 Volume 3 is book 24 of the main series.

You know the drill. It's the five year anniversary (in my time zone) and they're at Part 5 Volume 10 (Part 3) pre-pub wise, Part 5 Volume 8 eBook wise, and Part 5 Volume 2 physically. This time let’s look at two somewhat comparable light novel releases by Seven Seas and Yen Press (do keep in mind though that J-NC’s workflow is very different).

For Seven Seas we'll look at Mushoku Tensei. The light novel license was announced on 2018-07-08 but more importantly for the comparison they released volume 1 physically on 2019-05-21 (J-Novel Club released Part 1 Volume 1 digitally on 2019-05-20 and physically on 2019-09-03) and released volume 26 (Final) physically just this week (which would correspond to Part 5 Volume 5). If you're interested in the eBook release dates subtract about a month and a half.

For Yen Press we'll look at Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town. The light novel license was announced on 2019-03-29 and they're currently at volume 14 with volume 15 (Final) scheduled for 2024-07-23 (which would correspond to Part 4 Volume 2 and Part 4 Volume 3 respectively).

Note: Quof apparently began translating the light novel on 2019-01-27.

So... Part 5, volume 10 of Bookworm is completing translation in 2 weeks. After that, I believe there are two more books that are already published in Japan, meaning that we could see the LN series (at least the main part) completed by the end of August (assuming the last 2 each has 8 translation parts).

Ofc, this is assuming that Part5 really does end at book 12 and it's not extended further.

Part 5 does end with Volume 12. No assumptions to be made.
The author is already working on the light novel adaption of the spin-off sequel web novel with the first volume scheduled to release in Summer 2024 and Short Story Collection 3 should release this coming Winter.

Ahh, the series will end in 2 books? Is that why more of the half of this book only contains side stories? Prolog and Epilog take up more space than the story itself and Epilog is getting bigger and bigger since the last books. Without this, the series probably would have ended by this book. I do not mind to lose half a chapter to Prolog and another half to epilog, but this is too much.

It reminds me for Eragon, which was announced as 3 volumes serie and after the 2nd volume it was extended to 4 books. The 3rd got so boring that I never finished the 3rd volume and never bothered to buy the 4th at all.
