Ascendance of a Bookworm - General Discussion

I just watched the anime 3rd season trailer on Youtube, with automatically generated translated subtitles. Apparently we've got the title entirely wrong. It should be "I can't choose the means to become a boss with sound". I trust that JNC will urgently correct this.

I read a bit of latest volume and we are half way of Academy arc and she is still in first year, about to go to second. I thought Academy arc will end when she graduates but it does not seems to be the case. I also doubt there will be time skip since such plot device is either used only once or is part of main plot and can be used constantly.
Anyway things are heating up and it seems things will get hectic soon. I thought this arc will be slow with lots of filler (due to its lenght) but I am glad that I was wrong. There are mayor moves behind scenes and, as usual, Myne is oblivious to it all :)

@Quof sorry to bother, but quick question. I know that Sylvester is referenced once in the fan book at "Sylvester Aub Ehrenfest", but I've never once seen him referred as that in the LN. Would his true, official name be just Aub Ehrenfest?
-
@elkensteyin The part in the fanbook refers to a bunch of full names that don't normally get used either. Sylvester is his first name, Ehrenfest his family name, and Aub ranking/position. I guess because that inherently represents that he's the son of the previous Aub.

Arg.
I was gonna dispute the implicit son bit, but if the policy is that siblings get disinherited once the new Aub is installed, only the offspring of the current Aub can become archducal candidates.Gotta remember this ain't pre-Conquest England...

Siblings aren't disinherited, Bonifatius is still a candidate, as is Ferdinand. I believe you might be confusing (spoiler for P4V5)
So I don't think son is a mistake, but previous Aub could be. He could've been passed the role from an older sibling in the same way Ferdinand would technically take over right now. Descended from a past Aub would be enough to establish his family lineage.

Oh bleep!
I was thinking of Altina.
It's a major plot hook there. In which case...
All the 'Ehrenfest' in the title indicates is that he's Aub Ehrenfest.
Nothing concerning just how he qualified as Throne Worthy, except that all of those who are Throne Worthy belong to the Extended Ehrenfest Lineage.
In this instance he is the son of the immediately previous Aub, but that has nothing to do with his formal title of Sylvester Aub Ehrenfest if near collateral lines still count as possible candidates. -

No, that's all that "Aub" would indicate. The duchy is named for the family in charge as per I believe p1v2. So Bonifatius and Ferdinand would both have Ehrenfest in their name. Based on the Elvira example, so would Constanze and Georgine I think?

Aub is a rank (Head of Duchy), Ehrenfest indicates which duchy. And, yes, the duchy takes the name of the ruling family.
But you quoted out of context.
Ehrenfest doesn't say a god damned thing about how he's related to any other member of the Ducal family, which is what was under discussion.
In the context of the discussion, all that Ehrenfest does is say which duchy he is Aub of.Sylvester Aub Ehrenfest.

Ascendance of a Bookworm: Part 2 (Manga) Volume 7 Cover
Japanese Release Date: 2022-04-15 -
I was checking if new fanbook is in works and then I found on internet that there is actually 6th Fanbook. Here is source:
https://ascendance-of-a-bookworm.fandom.com/wiki/Fanbook_6
I hope they will also be translated so after 2 years I will have full collection of LN and Fanbooks :)
-
New fanbooks keep coming pretty much yearly in Japanese, so I would not be surprised if Fanbook 7 releases later this year.

Behold!
A box!
Eh? You want to know what's in the box? Okay, fine, if you insist... Enjoy my excited unboxing photo spree within the spoiler tag below :D
What, still not satisfied? Okay, here's a zoom in on some of it :D
All in all, very happy with my first (non-physical-books) official Bookworm merch :D And now it's time to put it back in the bubble wrap and store it away so I don't accidentally ruin it >>;

And I'm not sure what those big squiggly letters on the colored part of the mugs are supposed to be either, they don't really look like fancy versions of the alphabet.
Oh god is it cursiveAh! Those are the sigils of each respective god, as they appear in magic circles. I've been meaning to do a long comparative analysis of all the ones we've seen throughout the LN and anime after the prepub part last week, but haven't gotten around to writing it up just yet. But for reference:
The bible, which includes all big 7, as it appears in the anime:
The circle from the Noble's Gate in the anime (edited so the symbols are easier to see):
And in the aforementioned prepub part,Yes, I have wasted too much time on this recently, how could you tell?
Edit: Also the borders around each symbol on the mugs are sigils as well. They're all in the Noble Gate circle as well.

Wasted? Nonono, this is glorious, thank you for the insight! I eagerly (but patiently) await your comparative analysis ^^

Eh? What's this? Is there some site that us poor, ignorant, non-Japanese-readers can use to order official Bookworm merch? If so, can you share that info?
Also, very nice unboxing.

I've heard that things like proxies exist, but I'm not savvy enough to know about them. This was done with the power of the TO Books online store (this link takes you to the spoiler-free 4-set mugs page, but be very careful if you want to peruse the site because there's covers of later volumes and the like), the TO Books FAQ, the TO Books guide to purchasing internationally, some assistance from Google Translate, and finally, the help of my Japanese-speaking friend who watched me stream my order and helped guide me through the process XD

@masterlillyclaw
Thank you! I don't have a readily available Japanese-speaking friend to rely on, but I may try this sometime anyway if I'm feeling especially courageous.
