I prefer things not being tied to a service. Is there any way to buy them drm free?

Like the others have said JNC premium ebook are DRM free, and for series from other publisher as long as you don't buy it from BookWalker you should be able to remove the drm. Personally I'm buying from Amazon, removing drm using (SHADY METHODS, GOOGLE IT DON'T POST THEM HERE PLEASE -myskaros).
