All I can say is I was unaware until now, since it was posted it will probably be seen by higher ups.
-
Oh wow 12k views for P2V2. I really hope they get taken down. People in the comments are even posting links to stolen JNC premium epubs.
-
This is disgusting! I don’t want the amazing feature of high quality DRM-free ebooks taken down because of such stupid people.
The most I do is sharing my premium ebooks with my younger sister, ‘cause she is interested in some of them, but still not enough for her to join. But sharing my books on some internet platforms?! No way!!! Just who did that?! I hope J-Novel Club will take them down soon.@LegitPancake In the imprints at the end of the stolen volumes should be written the name of the (premium) member who bought them (at least in the latest volumes). It shouldn’t be that hard to find out who shared them like this.
-
@Clarabelle Unfortunately, it's really easy to edit the ebooks to remove any watermarks like that.
-
@Clarabelle
It likely that the guy used DRM cracking tool to rip from other platform like kindle.

Legit owners tend to do that to their kindle copies too though (undersigned included)...
-
@Korppi Nothing wrong with that if that is all he did. And even running through that to make audio version of that would be fine if he just consumed it himself. Put it up on youtube is not.
-
@hiroto Well, that could be true, yes, but @LegitPancake said, that there were, or are links to premium epubs. I wouldn't be that angry about kindle ebooks, after all the quality is way inferior to the premium epubs JNC offers and there are no extras included. Still...
-
@Clarabelle Bookworm has almost no difference between premium and kindle other than uncompressed images. But even if it was just taken from Kindle, it's still posted for free without authorization. You can't really equate pirated copies with lost sales, but 12k views for just a single volume? That would put any series JNC has published in the top 5 in sales. I've thumbs-downed all their Bookworm videos and given people who ask for more links to Amazon, but still it's a shame so many people are using this.

@njuns I don't think you can report for copyright violation unless you yourself own the rights, no?

Legally, yes. That's the way it's supposed to work, but the big media conglomerates are famous for using automated takedowns to remove things that they don't own.

@myskaros I was curious what text-to-speech software they were using. I use the one built into my phone via eReader Prestigo, or so I believe. Its very convenient for me, listen to some of my less favourite books while walking to and from work. Read my favourite books while taking public transportation or during lunch. However, the quality is so so. Maybe somebody could make a recommendation for a better solution?
