Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Yay ~ the latest volume just got released.
It definitely feels like the day when your favourite sitcom is airing with a new episode. I guess this and Her Majesty’s Swarm will keep me busy this evening.
I got a fair impression of how a fair amount of people perceive the series (like with Isekai Smartphone). Yet I cannot but wonder, why is the series so popular in the first place?
I am reading it more due the general lack of alternatives and to take a break. I imagine it is still easy to read while being drunk compared to better novels. Yet there should be a different reason for a series like this one to get even an anime adaption, or not?

Anime adaption almost always comes down to waifus -- which is to say that is where the money is.

@jason-maranto really...? There must be more to it. I can see that with the parody on "Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!" - which is already questionable since it very much sounds like it is specifically made for lolicons...

Different people like different things. I personally love Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody, it is among the first light novel series I've read that got me into reading Light Novels. I wish they translated this as fast as J-Novel did. This is book 11, and there are 18 novels in Japan with the 19th currently scheduled to be released in March.
I wasn't a big fan of the Anime though.

I don't even know why i like this series. Maybe it's just how Serah said like a new sitcom episode (easy to follow and get into with some funny moments).
There are several reasons to make an anime adaption. Like reminding people the series exists. Especially for long running series this can lead to an increase in book sales. It's also a strategy to produce merchandise to increase the brands value and make it known through other channels. But in case of death march there wasn't much stuff to buy. Not even one figure only stuff like buttons, stickers, posters, t-shirts etc. .
And man that anime adaption wasn't good :D

@serah Sound funny. You write Yey and then relative your own comment.
I like Death March. Sure OP protagonist are like sand on a beach but this is one of the series which I re-read quite often. Although strangely more the rougher WN.
And anime adaptions are always there to promote the LN. And the sales seem to be alright if I consider that there are now 18 volumes out.

One of my favorite series and one of the longest one I have followed the WN translation. I guess it just hits all the check boxes for things I look/like in an isekai series. That said though the last arc in the WN definitely felt a bit of "winging it" by the author to finish it up. Hopefully he/she does something original for the LN releases.
