Ascendance of a Bookworm - Official Fanbooks

Before this topic gets moved to the licensing suggestion section: what are those fanbooks actually?
-
Maybe
Although I wouldn’t expect to hear any concrete info on if they are going after the fan books till after they already are licensed.
-
@serah I'm not so sure myself, but it seems like they are something like guide books to the novel series with a lot of background information on the characters, locations, the reigning social hierarchy and the world itself. Plus they probably include a lot of extras, like illustrations and bonus manga.
-
looks like these are authorized (in Japan) and not fan works- but "for the fans"
crossing my fingers that these get licensed in USA (as premium bonuses? as stand alone titles? ) -
That sounds very interesting. I would support the idea of being able to get an English version of that.
-
@jon-mitchell If they would be simply unofficial fan works, I wouldn't ask this question. They are official fanbooks, I just don't know, if they are a part of the light novel series or stand alone titles.

Thanks for the summary. If these were available at the right time I would definitely spend a credit on them!

@hiroto
All of the content sounds good to me. But due to what I would assume to be spoiler issues, they couldn't be released here until later.Based upon the releases you mention I would assume:
Fanbook 1 - November 2020.
Fanbook 2 - June 2021
Fanbook 3 - March 2022
Fanbook 4 - December 2022Any earlier than the above dates would open spoiler possibilities (dates are based upon the current plan of 10 parts per volume with one part released each week with no breaks between volumes and no unexpected delays).
I would definitely like to see them and sincerely hope JNC picks them up.
-
As these all appear to be relevant to future volumes, I hope the content will be bundled (into regular Bookworm volumes) where appropriate vs. separate books ( print?)
-
About how many pages are they? If they are more than 100 pages each, I very much doubt they would be bundled with the main series from JNC.
-
I dont know about the fan books but i heard AoaB has a spin-off about a "future" character we didnt met yet. So if they will license another thing , it would be spin-off i guess.

Hiroto listed it above.
88 pages
139 pages
99 pages
146 pages. Some of the content appears to be media as well?
Would be interesting to look into, but I also want to wait to avoid spoilers. -
I really want these. If JNC licenses them I would hope we could get them in physical format since I think that would be better for the artwork, but if we only get them digitally I would still buy them from JNC for the translated content and to support them, and then I would also see about importing the Japanese physical copies from Japan.
-
Haaaa... it would be expensive but WORTH it!
I would love to see different POV stories, it's refreshing when the MC whose POV we read all the time is a dork... -
I don't know if it has been suggested elsewhere... There are also two additional volumes with short stories told from other characters PoV.
This one was published after Part 4 Vol. 4 and takes place during the first half of Part 4.
This one was published after Part 4 Vol. 8 and has SS from Part 1 to Part 4.It would be nice if J-Novel Club could license them too.

I've read the first of these, and I'd say it would be best served by being read when it was released, between 4-4 and 4-5.
It isn't just going over the first half; it's also setting up a lot of subplots in the back half of part 4. But not in a way that would substantially affect your enjoyment of part 4 itself, more like reading it after finishing the main series would be suuuuper weird since it's set at such a specific moment in time. -
YES!!! ALL THE YES +1!!!
-
I would be very interested in this!
