I think I'm ok with not dwelling on the sanitation/plague/epidemic in detail and spending more time on character development. A cour for a typical Anime has somewhere around 4.25 or 4.5 hours of content (12, 22 minute episodes minus credits and fluff), cuts must be made if they decide they want to have a plot arc in a single cour, and for the story to flow, and for the audience to be engaged etc etc. Some anime do this better than others ( cough...cough Ragnarok)
-
Don't forget to "collect seven to make a wish come true" lol
-
After seeing this kind a work, im really scare to see "Realist Hero" or "Mushoku Tensei" as anime. For me there is no "by the grace of the god" anime, i wonder why they dont do its anime. It has good story, right?
-
Hmm, good point with changing it to Miasma becasue of the pandemic we have at hand. At first I thought it was a change as Miasma can be proven more easily as a virus/germs. Didn't the guild master of the apothecarian first have some doubts? Or was it someone else? Although it got squashed with the comments that it is unlikely and he is a friend with the Ducal house.
-
The anime adaptation was disappointing. All the characters looked ten years younger than I thought they would.
-
So they are going to use the pure iron for bars? I know they had to show his alchemy off, but they could have had him also actively make it less pure, because no iron is that pure.
-
@grobinson2k1 I'd be pretty surprised if they do anything more than mention he lowered the quality later when trading in bars. They don't seem to be dwelling on the mechanics of some of the powers very much like appraisal magic has been pretty much entire left out so far (excluding mentioning monster appraisal once).

I was thinking this too because it's pretty easy to forget that ryoma/eli are only ten because they really don't act that way at all and I think that pushed the ages of everyone else up by a bunch in my mind. Based on the logic of the world, though, it would make sense that the parents are probably in their late twenties to early thirties. The guards would likely be people that either the archduke or his wife were at school with, so they would be around that age too.

I'm really just enjoying the anime. You can't get everything in an anime and there are always going to be cuts. I'm fine with that to a point. Me, I just like seeing the characters of the stories that I like come to life and here is no exception.
A HUGE exception would have been Arifureta. That anime was HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! AND IT IS EVEN GETTING A SECOND SEASON! This anime is a masterpiece in comparison and sadly will only presumably get one season. It makes no sense what so ever.
Lets just face it. The light novel has all of the content. The manga has most of it, but not all of it. Some things are cut out of the manga due to page count restrictions. The anime has even less due to time constraints. But for me, as long as the key points are made, I'm good with it for the most part. Unless it's Arifureta. That was just cringe-worthy to say the least.
-
@lighthawk96 Yup. I'm with you. I'm having fun watching the anime and still enjoy the manga and LNs. Arifureta the anime - never went there and never will I suspect! ;-)

I'd like to know why Jeff and the other male adventurers don't have voice actors nor any lines at all so far.
-
@Demonskid I'd suspect it has something to do with the virus. It's probably pretty difficult to interview and audition people right now and it might not be worth their time for the extra expense and effort to fill bit parts.

It is going to be pretty hard for them not to have lines in the next episode, since they are going back into the mines and possibly encountering goblins, but that might happen the episode after.

Jeff at least, as he'll be joining Mizelia and banters with her. Leipin and Asagi pop up later on. It really just feels as they're treating the guys as insignificant when they have the same amount of significance as Miya's group.
I'm trying to make a GIF of the slimes training with that stick. >w< that was adorable!!! Sadly my programs are cooperating today. =A=

Hmm... this most recent episode (#6) I think is the one that deviated the most from the LN so far by a pretty wide margin.
-
@db0ssman
It did indeed deviate, a lot, but I expected they would to save time. This part was very large in both the light novel and the manga so I really expected it to be abridged. Especially if they want to get to parts of the story the opening alludes to. But I still enjoyed it. -
I haven't watched it yet, and now I'm scared to...

it's fun and at times cute. I wouldn't expect 100% fidelity to the LN (too much to pack into a 12 episode cour and be good ) but that being said - if you liked the LN, I'd wager that you'll like the anime. It captures at least some of the tone of the LN (Ryoma's life in Japan is explored less in the plot, at least so far...his 'OP'-ness, his relationship with the Duke's daughter, and his adventurer guild activities have more emphasis than in the LNs) but the essence is there- he's a slime rancher...ranching slimes and having adventures

I meant episode 6. xD
I've seen up to 5 when I posted that and I'm not happy with how they've done it. Sure, some cuts are necessary, but this.. Episode 6's cuts are just as bad as the cuts in episode 2. The fight with the goblins was boring as well. -
The last episode was nice and those annoying CGI horses somehow became a little livelier, don't you think?
-
The whole time Serge was staring at the Cleaner Slime, I could hear it say "Praise me More"
They really didn't need CGI for this anime >w>, Just use normal animation for the horses and the cave mantis -w-,
That slime's core trying to get away from Grissela.. x'D
Sad that the whole "mind reader" "i'm no mind reader" comedy bit was cut.. and wasn't Poiro suppose to be there with Grissela? Did they cut him too?I love watching the slimes move things around.
Looks like he won't get yelled at for over doing it while building the Bamboo Forest, seeing as most of the guard had helped and even Elia. Also seems like they also added the 2 adventurer parties in just for a conversation that was skipped over when they shortened the Mine Extermination to 1 day instead of the.. 5? 7? days it originally was.
This episode wasn't too bad. Best parts of this episode. The slimes and their reactions to Serge and Grissela. Gain in the Idol Fan outfit. And the slimes helping build the shop. <3
