How are the bonus stories in Smartphone and Realist Hero? Compared to say Arifureta. I'm debating rebuying the Premium vers of Smartphone and Realist Hero for the bonuses (I own them on Bookwalker) but wasn't sure if the extra stories were really worth it. From what I've seen the three shorts in the first three volumes of Smartphone are pretty vapid. But some of the shorts in Arifureta volume 1 were pretty interesting.

Re: Realist Hero - The bonus stories really add to scenes already shown in the book, like what was Aisha doing before she left for the kingdom to try an get an audience with souma, or what are some embarrassing thing Souma and Liscia talk about, we hear that Souma has some people do some stuff to try and advance civilization in the main storyline and in the bonus story we see those people actually doing what Souma says.

The stories are not a necessity to understand Realist Hero, they just add to the character’s traits and the build upon the story ever so slightly.

Re: Smartphone - Some stories so directly relate into the main story, however a lot of them don’t they are your average run of the mill slice-of-life stories that are one-offs.

However sometimes we get the author actually telling stories about his actual life experiences instead of what Touya is up to, which is nice.

@rahul-balaggan ok, cool. About how many shorts are there per volume? If I recall, I think Smartphone had only one each for the first three volumes.

It varies. Volumes 6 and 7 each only had one bonus short story and one author story. Volume 5 had 4 bonus short stories and volume 4 had 2.

@joshua-caleb in Smartphone, there are usually 1-2 interlude stories and also a 1-3 bonus stories that are about 1-2 pages long.

Isekai Smartphone volume 3 has: 2 interludes, 3 bonus stories, and 1 author .

@rahul-balaggan Honestly I haven't read that LN at all yet. I read Smartphone WN but now I'm busy catching up with the LN. After that I'm gonna read everything else on the site. The prepub for Ragnarok expires 15th May so I'm good.

Still I was taking a quick look at the prices and the difference is huge:

Amazon.it => 5,65€
Kobo => 7,91€
iTunes => 7,49€
Premium => 6 USD (which is roughly 4,88€ right now)

Why such a huge difference? It looks like I am better off getting premium credits regardless...

@terabyte BookWalker always has the highest prices every time I go there. The other venues are all priced at 7 USD here in the US though.

@terabyte and this is especially why it is nice to be a premium member. Wouldn't the world be strange if it would be more expensive directly from the producers? But yeah different platforms want different shares of the sales. This should be why the prices are this different.

@saskir Indeed! It just shocked me that the price difference between Amazon and Kobo is basically 40% of Amazon's price (2.26€). That is quite a huge margin.

too bad i found J-Novel Club much after, buying Tons of books on Kobo. would have loved these extras.
