      Hello everyone :)
I am new here and bought the membership to read the new parts of Ascendance of a Bookworm. I adore it. <3
But now I am finished and I am thinking about starting a new Light Novel of JNC.
Unfortunatly I have no idea where to start in such a large variety of options.
      Do you have any recommendations?
For example, which light novels are especially popular and are selling well.
Is there a story similar to Ascendance of a bookworm?
And I really, really don't like any kind of harem! I hate it even when there are two girls liking one boy and all... You know what I mean. :/
Thank you ahead for your answers.
And I am very sorry for any mistakes in my writting. English is not my mother language, so I hope it isn't too bad! Suggestions of improvement are welcomed. :)

You would think learning something from a book would be enough to just do it, right? But think hard about that, and you’ll realize that things really aren’t that simple. - Miya Kazuki

Hello & welcome to J-Novel Club.

We actually have a General Recommendation Topic that was started specifically when another user wanted to read a story similar to Bookworm.

Other users (myself included) have posted suggestions in that topic.

So when you have a moment you should give it a quick look.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

No harem certainly limits the selection a lot %) And those tend to be better sellers, too.

Not necessarily similar to Bookworm, but I'd suggest Crest/Banner of the Stars, Otherside Picnic, Secret Organisation, The Faraway Paladin, Cooking with Wild Game, Kokoro Connect - mostly because they don't really have harem themes and are good reads.

You can read part 1 of every title to get some idea of what it's like, also look at the tags on the page for a title and make sure it doesn't include "harem".

You might want to give Me? A Genius a try while it's on catch up. Volumes 1-2 are a complete story arc. Volume 3 starts a new arc that will never be finished but overall it was a fun series to read.

There is this unfortunate idea that harems seem to be a requirement to sell, so avoiding them is definitely hard.

                Personal Recommendations:

                • Campfire Cooking with my Absurd Skill
                • I Shall Survive Using Potions!
                • Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf

By the grace of the gods

If it’s my daughter, I’d even defeat a demon lord

How a realist hero rebuilt the kingdom

The last one has harem. However little sysnopsis coming. The guy coming to the medieval kingdom and uses his knowlage and rebuilt that poor and weak kingdom. He become king and with wierd policies the kingdom will rise.

I like the story and i also hate harem stuff but this series justifies it why it has to be harem. I would advise to check first 2 volumes.

PS: sorry using phone so i couldnt put link and stuff.

8 parts, 8 weeks to read a book, than binge read the same book within' 2 hours again.

                  Myne: Did we deceived him?
                  Ferdinand: Indeed we did.
                  Myne: *surprised myneface

                    Thank you.
Yeah, that's what I wanted to do. It is a pretty nice feature of JNC.
But I couldn't find "You might want to give Me? A Genius a try while it's on catch up.". Has it another name maybe?

                    @piisfun
Yes, it is really a shame! Sometimes there is such a good story and then half of the plot is about five girls competing with each other for one boy. And then all this fanservice... (I am also talking about Anime xD)
Thanks, I will check them out!

                    @hopebestman
                    Thank you!
I watched the Anime of your second suggestion and found it pretty cute. So I think I will try it out. I did not know that there also is a Light Novel.
And yeah, I heard of "How a realist hero rebuilt the kingdom" and thought about starting, but somehow I could not get myself through it.
But maybe I will give it a shot.

The full title is Me, a Genius? I Was Reborn into Another World and I Think They've Got the Wrong Idea!

@HarmlessDave was saying that you should give it a read since it is on “catch up”.

In case anyone has any question on what a “catch up title” is:

All volumes eventually go into the vault, after the e-book is released, and then every month new catch up titles are taken out of the vault and made available for users to read.
Like these series are on catch up for March

Me, a Genius? is one of the March catch-up titles, see the main page of the site:

"Last, we've got a plethora of short 1-3 volume series, for those of you looking for variety, or just something that requires less commitment :) Check out Brave Chronicle, ECHO, Gear Drive, Me, a Genius?, Yume Nikki, Occultic;Nine, Side-by-Side Dreamers, and Walking My Second Path in Life for a quick light novel fix!"

Ah, I see! That is a pretty nice list I will go through!
I just looked at "Me, a Genius?" and I think it sounds very interesting.
But there is one thing that's confusing.
When you search for the LN in titels there is Harem listet at the Genres.
But when you click on all three Volumes directly, it is not mentioned.

@Clarys Might have been an oversight. I have removed the "harem" tag from the series listing to match with the volume listings.

Whoever said nothing's impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.
