Recent Bumping of Suggestion Topics
-
Recently, I am sure many of you have noticed we have been having more activity in this sub-forum then usual. Normally that would be a great thing, however it seems that majority of this is revolving around the same topics to a degree that can be deemed as “spamming”.
As such we have decided to implant a new guideline, if topic spamming in the licensing sub-forum continues those topics that are spammed will be locked for 48-72 hours. If the issue persists we will consider locking those topics down permanently.
We understand that sometimes new users join the site and see the sub-forum and decide to show their support in various topics. If several suggestion topics have activity around the same time that does not automatically mean they will locked down. We will look at each instance individually to decide if the situation can be considered spamming or not.
Thank you for your cooperation

I visit this forum very often, but I did not really notice any spam bumping. Could you give an example?
Also, what is JNC Heart?
-
@Zing
I see what you did there -
Sure!!!
I am will not be going into exact details, just that for the last few days certain topics have seen a constant stream of new users coming in and posting in those topics bumping them up to the top of the list.
There is a pattern to these occurrences and we have noticed it.
Yes, J-Novel Heart is a newly established label under J-Novel Club, it is a Label focusing on Shojo titles.
They announced the creation of this label in November of last year at AnimeNYC with 5 launch titles, since then they have also announced a 6th title, (Can Someone Please Explain What’s Going On?!), and a 7th title, The Extraordinary, the Ordinary, and SOAP!
You can read more about the original 5 titles and the creation of J-Novel Heart in the news post.

Edit: I still had to answer...

I also did not notice any spamming. But I've noticed, that there have been a few new members these days (maybe because most people are on the internet more often than usual due to being forced to stay at home?) Isn't it fine that they show their support to the novels they like? It's not like they wrote more than one comment on these threads, so far they only showed their support (not continuously bumping them) and for new members threads which are at the top are bound to be noticed easier than threads which are far behind.

@Clarabelle
I still will not go into all of the details, but it may not be considered “topic spamming”, like you said they aren’t commenting more then once. However it definitely is “Forum spamming“, and it does look quite bad.
-
We understand that some of you haven't noticed anything or are fine with it if you have, but we have definitely received complaints, investigated them, and feel there was merit in making a pinned post about it. Whether we need to actually take action is yet to be seen, so just take this as us being proactive about a potential problem.

@myskaros In my eyes this stuff isn‘t really worth complaining, but okay... It‘s nice of you to pay attention to such issues.
-
I haven't noticed anything in particular, so I'm sure it's because you moderators are doing a good job.
Thank you always for the hard work.

Certainly there has been more posts in suggestion topics in the last few days. If this forum platform support it, you can try rate-limiting new users in some particular sections of the forum, or limit new users to some areas.
-
@tgquan67 I don't think the issue is NEW postings; it's bumping ones that have sat idle for years.
I don't notice it so much, since I started taking advantage of "Ignore".

There is a pattern to these occurrences and we have noticed it.I feel like its just influx of people due to quarantine... Well, that can be easily proven if you look at the IP address of the poster. Through it could just be same household.

Hmm, I was a bit surprised that Seven Seas licensed so many Yuri manga/novels. Is Yuri/Shojo/Otome stuff really that popular?
If there is a thing like JNC-Heart, what about JNC-Isekai? <.<

I would welcome such a label with open arms.xD

Well yeah, but your not allowed to create a new thread if it already exists as a suggestion.
So what if no one has commented on a suggestion thread for a year a new user can’t show support for the LN.
-
To clarify, this is not about old topics being resurrected.
And to once again draw attention my first statement:
We understand that sometimes new users join the site and see the sub-forum and decide to show their support in various topics. If several suggestion topics have activity around the same time that does not automatically mean they will locked down. We will look at each instance individually to decide if the situation can be considered spamming or not.
This is a preventative measure for users who may abuse the licensing sub-forum, as of right now we will not be taking any actions.

Yes, it is time to bring this up again.
We are aware of what happens on these forums. We know what is happening now.
