            I have a question.

Take the 'Invaders of the Rokujouma' series as an example.
If I become a regular member, then I can read all the volumes translated, including side volumes like Vol 8.5 etc, right?
Or do I have to become a premium member to read it or do I have to spend premium credits?

            Another question:

When you finish translating a light novel series, do you drop it off the site, so that the only way to read it is by buying the eBook online?

            Another question:

How much of 'The Invaders of the Rokujouma' series that the site has undertaken, has been translated?

Also, according to @hopebestman , it seems that only one eBook is free, what does he mean by that?

Does that mean there is a limit to the light novels I can read if I become a regular member?

@Vanair98 no not like that. Like i said i am not 100% sure but premium members can buy free ebook for every month. Not just for that month, when you buy it will be yours and next month you get buy another book for free. I think my comment is kind a misleading so i will delete my first comment.

You can read all of Rokujouma from V1 - V33 if you become a regular or a premium member there will be no difference.

As was said before premium members & normal members both receive access to the exact same content on the site.

                    Another question:

That is correct, the drop off is not immediate, after the final e-book is released the volume remains available for subscribers for a few weeks then goes off the site into the vault.

You can check which volumes will expire when with this link:

No, when you sign up for a premium membership (only for premium membership) you receive 1 free credit the day you sign up, that equals 1 free premium ebook.

Also, could I just ping you when I get my card from the bank, so that I can become a regular member?

No, that is your private information and should not be shared in any public fashion such as on these forums.

When you receive your card go to the main site and click to sign up at the very bottom of the page you can enter all of yoru card information and the coupon code for a free month.

                        Some Math:
                        For $6.99 USD a book

                        • get a LN Ebook from Barnes & Noble (My platform)

For $4.95 USD a month (Basic membership)

                        • Prepub access
                        • Premium Ebooks (DRM free, sometimes extra content)
                          • Cost is exact same as non-premium from B&N

For $10.95 USD a month (Premium membership)

                        • All Basic membership perks
                        • $1 USD discount on premium Ebook purchases
                        • 1 free premium book per month

Premium cost = Premium - Basic - discounts
                        Premium - Basic = $6.00 USD
                        Discounts = $7.00 (lowest non-discounted price) * books (up to 1 per month) + $1.00 (discount) * extra books

                        Ignoring extra books first
                        $6.00 = $7.00 * books per month (0 to 1)
if you are getting 0.86 books per month, you break even between membership types

So, if you are going to buy at least one premium book per month, it is cheaper to go premium.

edit: I actually changed my membership status as a result of these calculations.

I want to buy all volumes of 'Invaders of the Rokujouma'.

So, is it better if I become a regular member and save it as a pdf format, or become a premium member and get one free volume while buying it through a premium membership?

Or should I just buy it from Amazon?

So which one is better, and which helps me save money, for buying all the volumes including the side volumes.

So do I receive one free premium credit every month if I become a premium member?
So, using that free premium credit, I can buy one volume of a light novel series for free?

@Vanair98 It's not really free. A premium credit costs $6 for a premium member. Premium membership costs $6 more than regular membership. So you're paying for that credit each month via the cost of your membership.

The cheapest option would be to sign up today for a premium membership, and buy 29 credits for $6 each

You get 1 free credit when you sign up and tomorrow you will get 1 more credit.

                                  That will be:

                                  $11 + (29*6)= $185

Currently only V1 through V31 are purchasable, the other volumes will take time to be released, as of right now there is no update on when V32-V33 will release.

                                    A question:

After you drop a series when it is completely translated, how long will the eBook be available to purchase online?

Also, how do you pick up new light novels to translate?
Through voting from your readers? Or something you decide and choose on your own? Or is there some sort of agreement between the different publishers, about who will translate which light novels?

To clarify J-Novel Club does not drop any volume or series after it has been translated. They simply make them unavailable for members to read after a certain time period.

The ebooks will be available to purchase as long as the contract stays active.

Also, how do you pick up new light novels to translate?

There are many factors that go into deciding which series J-Novel Club will be potentially going after to license.

None that I will go into specificity cause those decisions are made far above me.

However if there is a particular series you want licensed please look to our licensing sub-forum and show your support there.

We also have a dedicated thread for which series already have a topic, so please look there first.

To clarify they will be available as long as the contracts remain active, not necessarily as long as J-Novel Club remains active.
