Is it better for companies to only go after completed LNs?
-
For me, LNs that are already completed can sometimes feel like a chore to read. There's always a case where we ended up not liking a series as much as we thought.
That's why I much prefer the current licensing model. (But if JNC decides to pick up Boogiepop, I definitely won't complain.)

If an English licence did well, would the JP make a ditigal next volume and sell it to JNC?
-
@BiYao It has never happened before for JNC (not counting the JK Haru doujin novel), but that doesn't mean it's impossible.

I actually hope this happens with Secret Organization.
-
@BiYao Well, the popularity of Realist Hero's english license apparently strongly influenced the decision to make it into an anime. So I think it's entirely possible.
-
@TUSF Do you have a link to back that up, if you do could you post it.
-
@Eternal-Wanderer It wasn't the sole factor, but the author acknowledged "overseas fans" as one contributor to the decision. The JNC twitter said it more bluntly.
-
I see absolutely no reason to wait for the series to be complete before licencing the faraway paladin :)
-
Well it's not JNC fault some series got hiatius.
I'm still hoping for- Clockwork planet
- [New Life+]
- Walking My Second Path in Life!
To resume..

@Owel-James-Manguerra
I don't recall what the deal was w/ Clockwork Planet, but as far as I can tell New Life + is dead. I'm seriously bummed about Second Path, I seem to recall reading somewhere that the author gave up on it. I'm not sure what's worse:
- being 'left hanging' because a series is on hiatus/gets abandoned (or killed like New Life+)
- ending gets rushed like Bluesteel Blasphemer
- series goes off the rails like Infinite Stratos seems to have done
yea- if JNC never started translating series that aren't 'complete' readers wouldn't have these downers...but we'd not have like 90% of the series that are here. Some of my favorites we are 'caught up to Japanese release'

Besides never-ending series like Smartphone, we'd have lost Mixed Bathing which was on hiatus for ages.

Tough choice.
I disliked the rushed ending to Bluesteel more than the dangling plot threads in Me, a Genius?
At least for JNC titles, Premium members don't have to keep paying for a series after it goes off the rails. That happened for me with Little Apocalypse, though I can back for the 2-book not-great-not-terrible conclusion.
