I don't think I've ever used the old app, but the iOS one logs me out, which obviously should never happen. The offending behavior also happens on the website, so I created a separate thread.

While reading Manga on the app, there's a bar that should be covering up the 'read on j-novel.club' but is actually out of place, about a couple lines under its supposed position, which in turn covers part of frame, which results in not being able to see some speech bubbles. I'm currently using a Samsung 10 ultra with Android 14, the most recent version of the app (3.1.1)

My biggest complaint is that it is difficult and inconsistent to resume reading a LN chapter/part. The app seems to have an unpredictable timer or condition after you switch focus, after which the app dumps you back on the home screen instead of returning to the most recent in-progress part.
I tried to test a few conditions (5, 10, 15 mins, lock screen, switch to several other apps) to get the app to go to the main screen, and it was consistent in re-opening the in-progress chapter. But then after another short while of inactivity (maybe 30 mins to an hour?), it opened to the chapter part for a brief moment and switched back to the main screen.
There needs to be a dedicated "resume reading" shortcut (maybe even in the main navigation tabs at the bottom) that when clicked, shows you all unfinished recently read series chapter parts, or, the next available part to read (if available).
Having to scroll through or search the series list to pick up reading when I come back to the app is very high-friction.
Even if the app returned to the last read chapter part 100% of the time on resuming focus, it still doesn't help you continue reading other unfinished, in-progress volumes (or next available unread volumes), so I will reiterate that a dedicated "continue/next on your reading list" type view is a necessary addition.
This is on Android (if it matters).

I have only one complaint.
Something about the app has changed that now causes screen readers to no longer work properly. This is very unhelpful for the visually impaired.
Due to the change, screen readers now cannot read individual words properly (Kingdom being read as Key-mon for example). Screen readers will also skip over whole sentences or paragraphs at times.
I thought this was just a screen reader issue, but I have tried multiple different screen readers. None of them have worked.
This is on Android.

Using the app on an iPhone 13 mini iOS 18.0.1This has been an issue for me as well for a long time but I am on Android (S22 Ultra). Still don't see it on known issues list though so is it just me?

Unsure if this is currently a known issue, just got the app today, attempted to filter by Only Follows under the Series category, and Filter fails to filter. Is checked off to acknowledge tap, but series that are not currently followed still appear in the Series list. This does not occur after a restart of the app, likely a cache issue with opening the app while being signed out, then signing in. Low priority issue.

Hi, hope I'm alright to post here. I just got the premium to read the latest chapters of Apothecary Diaries and the spacing in the app is very weird. Screenshots are from chapter 1 volume 1 to avoid spoilers, the margin spacing is different in volume 15 for some reason but both volumes have the odd issue of line spacing at the start of a paragraph: the first line of the paragraph has extra space below it, as if the line below is a paragraph as well, it reads really weird (changing line spacing doesn't correct it). The margins also make no sense - top and bottom are different and it's impossible to change the sizing to something comfortable.
Any chance of this being resolved? At least the paragraph spacing issue pretty please?

I’ve noticed a copyright page now at bottom of chapters in app and it is jarring in dark mode. Is it possible to add the copyright text to the next chapter section or create a copyright chapter?

@Ninjamstr2 from what we've been told, the copyright page has to be in each prepub section for works from some JP publishers. Unsure if there's a better way to integrate them for dark mode though.

This reader’s library update is rough as other threads have well covered. Any eta on when it will be added to the app? I am just prompted to purchase or rent the books…

@Jyuichi It should work if you try to read the not free parts of a book that is apart of readers club, worked for me for Altina when I tested it. I would like to have the catchup filter changed over to the reading club filter and a search functionality would be nice. The app doesn't give any indication on which books are even apart of the readers club

@Nubz_Unite The app "should" have been updated as soon as they released Readers Library. There is no excuse for the lack of communication, nor the lack of app support.

Here's my feedback on the new app: it could not be worse and still function, I'm going to delete it and just read on the website even on my phone it's so terrible. Did anyone even review its actual use? Because I think a group of 10 year olds could come up with a whole bunch of problems that would be likely at a glance.

all other criticisms I agree, I can't see what is reader library from the app obviously which is ridiculous (and catchup is still there taunting us)

I have a feature suggestion :
Can you add the calendar as a tab or an option to be added as a tab in the app? I can check it easily within the app rather than jump to the site just to check the calendar. -
Please add check filters to series page to enable me to filter more than just following or defunct catchup titles.

English Originals.I basically never want to see BL or non-Japanese novels. if I wanted those I’d go to Amazon.

@sygish What is woman's lit? that is not a actual literary category.
It's just BL, not woman's BL (which would imply there is a man's BL).
would be nice if the app told you a series was BL, yuri, or 18+ instead of finding out after you start reading.I would love to exclude anything with explicit intimate scenes personally. I do not want to read that stuff.

@Aquantis I think maybe they might mean Woman's BL in that the story was specifically designed to cater towards female viewership as opposed to more general audiences? I'm not sure what exactly it's like in the novel space, but in the manga space, there's plenty of series that are categorized as BL that look to cater to more general audiances.
I would agree there needs to be something that lets you filter out by age ratings though. I'm surprised the suggested age rating isn't listed at a minimum in the series info on the app.

@Aquantis I just mean women’s smut stuff as opposed to shojo/romance fluff. Not interested in any BL and the only Yuri I ever consumed was Yuru Yuri anime so, not really lurid stuff.

Is this not what the imprints are? j-novel Heart is shoujo and Jnovel knight is BL?
