Just got the anime for this a couple of days ago, and started searching here for the recommendation topic to vote it up... but there wasn't one.

      From the Wikipedia article:

A young salaryman who died in an accident was reborn in another world filled with magic and demons. As a baby, he was picked up by the patriot hero "Sage" Merlin Wolford and was given the name Shin. He was raised as a grandson and soaked up Merlin's teachings, earning him some irresistible powers. However, when Shin became 15, Merlin realized, "I forgot to teach him common sense!" Diseum, king of the Earlshide Kingdom, recommends Shin to attend his Magic Academy, on the agreement of not using Shin for political warfare. In the capital, Shin rescues two girls, Maria and Sizilien, from thugs, and later he would inaugurate a club that consist of him and others.

      Author Tsuyoshi Yoshioka
      Publisher Enterbrain
      Current volumes 12, ongoing
Anime Yes, 12 episodes, Funimation has English license
      Web Novel Yes
Manga Yes, Kodakawa Shoten, 13 volumes, ongoing

I watched the first 5 episodes of the anime last night, and will probably finish it today. The main character Shin reminds me of the innocence of Yoichi from Samurai Harem with the "broken" powers of Touya in Smartphone.

Before heading off to the academy, Shin expresses how he's glad magic in this world only requires imagining what you want. This is because he thought it would be so embarrassing to have to chant spells and cry out the spell's name, like in anime. Then he discovers that yes, the people of this world go through elaborate chants and motions for their (pathetically weak) spells.

A topic for this title already exists and I encourage anyone reading this comment to show their support in the already established topic:

        https://forums.j-novel.club/topic/1146/magi-s-grandson-kenja-no-mago?_=1602765147865

As this topic is a duplicate I will be locking this one down.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.
