What's The Two Light Novel Series You'd Like to See Licensed in 2021?
-
@Crey
I've seen some of the illustrations from the light novel, so I think they probably follow each other relatively closely. But, I have know way to know for sure unless someone licenses it. Hint, hint. -
@Lex
Well... Some titles that i thought were too controversial to be licensed here, but then got licensed do I just don't know. I don't think anyone does at this point. -
@jdmmis
I don't see why either of these two don't have a chance. I would definitely give them a look if they got licensed. -
I kinda wanna read this: Unparalleled Path ~Reincarnated as a Battleship AI~, and while it's not a series, I also would really love to be able to read Big Noise from the Stairway Landing.
Well, I actually have no clue if the former is any good, but I know the latter's written quite a few books, and I have his "Bonus Track" on my desk as I make painstaking effort to read it.

After looking this up, I have to say; I want this too!

Glad to have another convert. The label (Legend) apparently often ends series at 3 volumes, and that Battleship AI series has 3 volumes... since months... so I'm not exactly hopeful anyone'll actually license it someday, though. It'd sure be nice to work on either of the two I mentioned, especially Big Noise... Man, if I could work on Koshigaya's books, I'd be very chuffed.

I only have one novel that I could think of now: Baka and Test and Summoned Beasts.
EDIT: I thought of another one but I don't know if this will count as a light novel- From the New World (Shin Sekai yori).
-
Hmm, if it's just 2 then...
Isekai Yururi Kikou: Kosodateshinagara Boukensha Shimasu (Another World Leisurely Journey - Raising Children While Being an Adventurer) is my absolute top pick. Unfortunately it's AlphaPolis which so far appears to still not be licensing their titles outside of Japan. I've been reading the WN translations, but it's quite clear that more content has been added to the LN release.
Rebuild World is probably my second pick, it's got more of a post apocalyptic feel to it which is a bit less common in the age of isekai.
-
Well let's see...
Top of my list currently is Endo and Kobayashi’s Live Commentary on the Villainess which y'all can learn all about if you click over to the thread I made over at the licensing suggestions part of the forum.
sufficed to say, it's a really fluffy romance that's mostly not an isekai [high schoolers Endo and Kobayashi are playing an otome game when suddenly one of the characters, Prince Siegward, can hear what they're saying. So they decide to use their commentary to keep Liselotte, the villainess character, from meeting a Bad End, and create the Greatest Happy Ending for everybody]next on my list would probably be Oishii Veranda/Delicious Veranda
to steal what @Hyperion said in their pitch for the series:This series meets my need for a romance series with adult characters that is not an isekai and does not contain any fantasy, supernatural, or sci-fi elements whatsoever. I'll freely admit that it was the covers that drew me in (take a look, they're all beautiful) but the combination of the story, reviews, and covers make the series sound like a light, relaxing and peaceful read, which I feel would be a good fit for JNC. And hey, another cooking novel wouldn't hurt anyone, right? And to set itself apart, this one has a focus on gardening and will have meals you can actually make in our world (I don't know if they're included in the books but the website includes recipes).
So yeah, I'm hoping for a few good romances
Given that J-novel just released a trio of romcom series I have renewed hope that these two will be licensed by someone.
...Pretty please you guys?🤗 -

...uuuh, why only two, there's so, so many
We did the list before and did 10. But limiting does make it easier to see what is super priority.
Netoge would be nice. We are getting more gamers in reality series in the recent JNC pickups, so maybe.
Nogizaka Secret one I wouldn't mind getting either the old series or the new one with

@Lily-Garden
JNC is actively growing the JNC-H portion of their library so these I think these definitely have a chance. -
@Terrence
Exactly! 10 is too many an 2 felt just right to me. It also makes you really think about what titles you REALLY want to see licensed. -
@Lily-Garden
Thanks for nominating one of my suggestions! I was pleasantly surprised since it's not exactly a popular post.One of my top two licenses would also include Oishii Veranda and my other would definitely be Lord Marksman, which is probably my #1 request now after Apothecary Diaries was licensed.
-
I really want the Gundam Unicorn novels and I want Golden Time Yuyuko Takemiya (author of Toradora!). Her writing style is by far and away my fave of any LN author.
-
@the-green-death
Anything by the author of Toradora I think is a solid choice. Really love that series. -
@Hyperion
I think Oishii Veranda might stand a good chance. -
The main thing I'd like is Kino's Journey. Long shot, but maybe Yen Press might pick it up if Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina does well since they're so often compared. The only problem is that if it does get licensed I lose some of my incentive to keep reading it in Japanese, and it is already hard enough to find time to keep studying Japanese with my current irl situation. One of my winter holidays projects is to build time into my schedule more effectively so I can be consistent and get back on track with it after largely falling off the last year and a half.
I'd also really like to see the fanbooks and side story volume for Bookworm picked up, and the anthology volumes for Crest/Banner, but I don't think those count as new series.
So, if I get a second pick I'd like the Death Mage Who Doesn't Want a Fourth Time. I read through the first few volumes' worth of the fan TL and liked it, then paused with the hopes of it getting licensed. (If it doesn't after a few years I might just buy the Japanese and either read that or continue with the fan TL after buying the Japanese.) I think it would fit in well with JNC's selection too.
I don't actually have anything else on my list. I suppose I would at least try the Grimgar spinoff if that got picked up.
Edit: Oh, there is one more. I'd like the sequel to WorldEnd/Sukasuka, generally nicknamed Sukamoka, to get picked up, but that would be a Yen Press pickup if it happened since they have the first series.

@yumenokage
I would really love to see "Death Mage" get licensed. I absolutely love the manga. Link's journey definitely is a possibility. Some if the older light novel's seem to be getting some consideration now so it's not impossible. -
For me it would be
- Konjiki no moji tsukai
- The Death mage who doesn’t want a fourth time
-
I kind of want to read the Knight's & Magic lns, and I also want to read Misfit of Demon Academy.
