      1. Isekai Tensei Soudouki
My favorite isekai novel; it's well written, with lots of funny moments, there's good explanations of how all the modern world stuff the MC creates affects the world and a large cast of memorable characters. Unfortunately it's from Alphapolis so low chance of being licenced, but fingers crossed.

      2. Maou ni Natta Node, Dungeon Tsukatte Jingai Musume to Honobon Suru
The MC becomes a dungeon master demon lord, but spends all his time goofing off with his family and occasionally going out to kick ass. It's a great slice-of-life isekai.

Grimoire of Zero and its spin-off sequel would be enough for me.

Both are excellent choices. I would definitely read them both.

I'm actually surprised someone hasn't already picked up "Knights and Magic" yet. I was for sure that one would get licensed after the anime aired.

I liked "Grimoire" so those would definitely be nice to have.

I follow the manga on "Maou Ni Natta Node" so I have to definitely agree with you. I haven't heard of the second one but it does seem interesting as well.

Apparently the JP publisher wants way too much money to license it and nobody is willing to pay that amount.

That doesn't surprise me one bit, and that would be a perfect explanation for it not being licensed.

Hmmm if I should only name 2.

Madan no Ou to Vanadis (Lord Marksman and Vanadis). Yeah I know except the last Novel it is fantranslated but I would still buy it without thinking. Pity that the Anime was mediocre (although they found a good way to shorten the strategies)

SUmmoned Slaughterer. Also completely translated but if anyone liked New Life+ you would certsainly like this one. There are not enough Novel out there with ruthless MC which are not this way because of a revenge story.

I did really like "New Life+" and am sad that it is still not being translated. Surpris8ngly, the manga us still ongoing, but by a different publishers than the light novel was.

I’m going to pick one realistic (in that it isn’t too old and long) and one less realistic.

The more realistic choice: The Casefile of Jeweler Richard. I really liked the anime, and everyone who’d read the novels said loads was left out, so the novels I assume are even better.

Less realistic: Saiunkoku Monogatari. Another one I loved the anime for (at least the first season - never saw all of the second), but this is 18 volumes and older. I debated between it and Earl and Fairy for my older choice, but this one seemed a much deeper story from the anime. With the growth of female-demographic light novels in English, it might have a chance, but its age won’t help.

I've never heard of "The Casefile of Jeweler Richard" before but it does appear interesting.

"Saiunkoku Monogatari" seems to be like a cross between realist hero and "Apothecary Diaries". That in itself seems to be very interesting and should make for an interesting story.

Picking older, rescue titles is normally a recipe for disappointment but the fact that Slayers, Orphan, FMP, and Crest/Banner of the Stars are all things I can read right now gives me hope. So, I'll take this plunge..

Gosick - This has topped my LN wish list since seeing the anime long ago, well before there was a J-Novel and any kind of LN license that wasn't for a major tile was still considered to be kind of rare.

Kino no Tabi - The ultimate "how is this not licensed" title... 20 years running, 20+ volumes and still going, 2 different anime adaptations, and only a single volume ever made it into English, largely because TP did horrible TP things to it.

"Gosic" seems to be a re-accuring pick. It seems a lot of people feel the same way.

With "Kino no Tabi", maybe the author and publisher felt that one really bad translation was enough and won't license it. But things change so who knows. I think this has happened to a couple of series and I don't think any of them ever got a second translation, but the doors seem to be opening wider and wider every year so I wouldn't give up hope.

@lighthawk96 I get that, but that was like 15 years ago now, by a company that barely exists these days. It's about to be 2021 and we live in a world with J-Novel, Yen, Seven Seas, and Vertical (or Kodansha now I guess) that have all proven themselves to be perfectly capable of handling large series with the professionalism and respect they deserve.

On the whole, the industries attempts to muck about with making unwarranted edits to the source backfired and generally have been shunned ever since. Crap like ADV licensing series in the middle of the title (Mythical Detective Loki), CMX butchering a series like Tenjho Tenge, or whatever we want to call what 4Kids tried doing to One Piece when they realized it wasn't really for kids could be hidden away to some extent in the pre-social media days but the risk of it blowing up and spinning out of control is so high now that companies are mostly going to play nice or leave it alone.

I don't really know what to say here. I get it, and I agree with you. But you and I both know that some publishing companies and authors just don't want there works to be licensed outside of Japan. It's just the way part of the industry is, however unfortunate it may be.

That said, there is the chance that the authors and companies that were burned in the past might be lured back into the expanding overseas light novel market. Money talks, and if they see they are missing out on an ever growing piece of a much bigger pie, then maybe they may take the chance, or second chance depending on the situation. Unfortunately, we are at their mercy and we'll just have to be patient and wait and see.

Uh, difficult question, there are more than two light novels I absolutely would see getting licensed (luckily four of them already got licensed), but if I need to decide for only two, then the ones I would currently love to see getting licensed in 2021 (preferably by J-Novel Club) the most are these:

                                          1). Fake Cinderella

                                          alt text

A novel with the right mix of romance, political intrigues and cooking. At the beginning the main protagonist is still a child and over the series you witness her growth, similar to Ascendance of a Bookworm. The light novel is complete with 12 volumes.

2). Isekai Yakkyoku / Other World Pharmacy

                                          alt text

A very interesting novel, taking place in a medieval world, reminiscent of France. I'm following the story for quite some time now both via the web novel version and the manga and really enjoy them.

The first one definitely seems interesting. I think it would be a fine addition.

The second one is actually sitting in my number 3 spot. I had hoped that it was what was going to be announce this last time around, but it was "Apothecary Diaries" instead. Both are great stories, but I follow the manga on this one religiously and would definitely read the LN. I really hope someone picks this up as well.
