Decided I should probably get my list in here in hopes of drawing more readers and garnering more support for license requests!
- Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu (Moonlit Journey Across Another World): The book I most want licensed right now. Misumi Makoto is forcefully transferred to another world due to a deal between his family and a goddess, but she declares that he's too ugly and banishes him to a wasteland far from human contact. However, Makoto discovers that he's actually ridiculously powerful and befriends various unconventional characters as he adapts to his new life.
Why it's good:
- Sono Mono. Nochi ni... (That person, later on...): The book I second-most want licensed. After having his heart broken, Wazu runs away from home in despair. Two years later, Wazu decides to descend from the mountain he had been hiding on and rejoin human society. Mysteriously, he learns that the mountain was actually home to incredibly powerful monsters... how did he survive there?! As he journeys to figure this out, he also attempts to relieve his heartbreak... only for every woman he falls for to reject him. How did Wazu get so strong? Will he ever find love? Why do weird bandits keep bothering him?!
Why it's good:
- Tensei shitara Ken deshita (I reincarnated into a sword): A man reincarnates into a typical fantasy RPG world... but as a sword. As he can still use magic, he levels up and becomes absurdly strong, but accidentally ends up sealed in the ground. A young catgirl slave stumbles upon him and frees him in order to protect herself. To repay her, he breaks her slave contract and decides to become her weapon and journey around the world with her.
- Nidoume no Jinsei wo Isekai de (A second life in another world): Renya has lived a long, full life, dying peacefully... except now a goddess has wiped his memories, summoned him to another world in a young body, and given him the ability to cast magic in order to prevent this world's destruction. As he wanders around fighting and sampling food, he discovers that he was extraordinarily capable in his previous life. JNC got it!
- Isekai Shoukan wa Nidome Desu (This is my second otherworld summoning): Setsu was summoned to another world as a hero and saved its peoples, then ends up reincarnated back in Japan as a baby. Now in high school, his entire class gets summoned... to the same world he had saved before. Unsure of why this human kingdom would feel a need to summon more heroes, Setsu leaves the kingdom to revisit the world to find out what's changed in the time he's been gone.
I've also read Konjiki no Moji Tsukai, but it hasn't been updated in a while. I was caught up to Lazy Dungeon Master at some point but fell behind and haven't felt inclined to catch back up :o
I’m reading Isekai Smartphone on a fan site since the translator for JNC has had to delay several times over the past few months due to illness or something. :smirk: It’s also significantly further along so there’s that.
-
@carolinefelicity that's cheating!!! (already did that a while ago, didn't have enough patience lol)
-
I don't usually read a lot of fan translations, but I follow Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan/Chivalry of a Failed Knight even if the translation quality is a bit spotty sometimes. I really love the Seven Stars arc because the story just fully embraces how ridiculous the characters' powers and determination are and not only takes it over the top but weaves it into the overall plot.

After reading the first volume of So I’m a Spider... from Yen, I’ve been reading the WN translations, and it’s awesome. One of my favorite “weak to strong” stories I’ve ever read.
-
@paulnamida @carolinefelicity I've managed to behave and not go reading ahead on SAO and Devil is a Part-Timer, even though the fan translations are years ahead of Yen Press. JNC is translating Smartphone quickly enough to keep me satisfied.
The only fan translations I have read are Invaders of the Rokujouma (the middle volumes) and Eromanga Sensei (currently unlicensed). I have read a bit of the "extra" SAO materials (Material Editions and side stories) that normally wouldn't get a publisher to translate.
-
@paul-nebeling in my case, I had already read SAO up to the latest release when YP announced their license so I just couldn't sit and wait 10 years for them to catch up so I still kept up with the fan translations, especially since at the start they only had physical releases which are way too costly when you factor in shipping to South America. I still imported their releases of SAOP once they had all 4 volumes since that'd save me some shipping cost but still, it was expensive. Once they launched the e-releases I bought 'em all, but I won't stop going back to the fan translations until they catch up. Same thing with The Irregular at Magic School, Arifureta and How not to Summon a Demon Lord. Smartphone is the only one (oh right, So I'm a Spider as well now) that I have gone to read the WN in my impatience after reading the LN xD. Other series I'm just waiting patiently for YP and JNC to release.
-
@paulnamida lol that’s how I feel al though for me it’s Re Zero I’m waiting slowly for YP to catch up . I usually always put YP on blast yet I still buy some LNs from them XD. I just hate how it takes a year for 2 volumes with them. I’m so happy JNC licensed Grimgar before they got to it . I’d still be waiting for volume 4 XD .

Finally got my hands on a PDF for Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online volume 3 a couple days ago. So I binged re-read the first two volumes and just finished the third volume about an hour ago. The whole arc was absolutely fucking amazing and I'm hyped to the moon and back for the anime adaptation. I really hope they treat the series right as it's a great one. Discussion on /r/LightNovels

@voraguard whats RN
-
@devarsh-bhatt RN = right now

@paulnamida In spite of the slow rate of translation, YP does have some of the more popular titles. I just preordered the latest volumes of SAO (in print) and Devil is a Part-Timer! (digital). I'm debating if I want to start reading Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon (There has got to be a good abbreviation for that!), but with the way anime wrapped, I'm not sure if I want to.
-
@paul-nebeling
The abbreviation for Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon is Danmachi. (It's from before YP localized the title) I've heard that a more accurate translation would have been something like Is It Wrong to Expect a Chance Encounter in a Dungeon. It's just a weird localization like how My Big Sister is a Chuunibyou ended up as My Big Sister Lives in a Fantasy World. -
@aruseus493 thats good to know

Currently reading...
Wortenia Senki
Takarakuji de 40-oku Atattandakedo Isekai ni Ijuu Suru
My Beautiful Wife is a CEO. (A bit hard to read. Overly repeatitive in descriptive prose) (warning, MC is a retired OP person wanting to live a dull uneventful life... at like age 30...)
Risou no Himo Seikatsu
Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu
Tales of Demons and GodsUnfortunately I keep adding more as I catch up.
Most are stories I'd find myself buying if sold on Amazon... or here...

Not fansite stuff, but I did decide to grab some Bookwalker stuff.
I'm almost done Google Translate reading "Attacking a Dungeon with My Beautiful Boss Is Overtime Work?". It's a fun story involving office workers that visit interdimensional dungeons in Japan to gain some overtime pay they lose on their Wednesday off-night. Pretty fluffy overall with light relationship stuff, and backstories that are kept vague until the story necessitates developing them.
Google Translate works about as well as you'd expect, some lines you just can't fully understand, but you get the gist. One problem I run into is translate translating names into words occasionally. Like Miyuki became Mi Snow.
ZoaHunter is going to be the real challenge (unless I can find a translation out there). It opens with a futuristic motorcycle (monocycle) race.
The monocycle has the nickname POD for Pizza and Donuts, since that's what it looks like from an observer's perspective, the donut being the wheel, while two slices of pizza looking objects make up the... Well some part of the machine that translate calls the cowl, but it's gotta be the seat or something? =/

Sometimes I’m too lazy to read XD . LNs are an entertainment which I don’t hope to miss out on.
