In what Light Novels the main characters have a "physical" relationship?
-
Here there be spoilers! You have been warned.
The start of the new JNC translation Are You OK With a Slightly Older Girlfriend? reignited a fire over May-December romances and other generally inappropriate relationships. Since the story is set in the real world, age of consent laws also came up. As a couple of people pointed out, dating does not equal having sex, which lead me to thinking about how few LN MC actually do. Overall, LN are pretty chaste in that respect. At least the ones I've seen
So here's my list of titles that I've read (or watched) where the MC's do get physical, plus a few that I'm going to comment on. Starting with...
Sword Art Online: Debates rage about this. Discounting the author-penned-and-disavowed Chapter 16.5, there's plenty of indications that the main couple had/have a physical relationship. The only question that if have is if they've taken out to the physical world, and I think by this point, they have.
Realist Kingdom: Souma has two kids. Plus several bedroom scenes. Case closed.
Smartphone: Touya just got married and had a rather busy time with eight of his nine wives. It's also been revealed that he will have children with all nine girls, so, yeah.
Bookworm: Ok. The MC, still being a little girl, hasn't had sex, but there is plenty it going around. A couple of children have been born, and I won't even go into the Blue Priests raping Grey Attendants of both genders.
Wortina War: No, Ryoma hasn't, at least not explicitly, and not for a lack of willing participants. Like Bookworm, there's a whole lot of rape going on off camera. Moving on.
I'm going to toss in a couple of Anime here.
High School DxD: In spite of its risque premise, nothing has happened "on camera" yet. I'm told that changes in later volumes of the LN.
School Days: Yes, I have watched this. Yes, there is lots of sex. Yes, I do think this story is a raging dumpster fire.
And one final LN...
Eromanga Sensei: I managed to read a good chunk of this in a fan translation before it got taken down. Unlike the author's other infamous work Oreimo, there's no sex here. Lots of inappropriate innuendo, but no sex.
-
Black Summoner: Kelvin and Efil got lovey-dovey as early as halfway through the first volume.
-
For Highschool DxD, unless something happened in the last volume or in the DX side stories, Issei is still a virgin.
Now, for series I read (or heard) in which the protagonist has sex (or at least it's implied he has): Testament of sister new devil, Magicka no kenshi, Siskan, Master of Ragnarok, Rakudai Kishi no Eyuutan, The result of when I time leaped back to highschool and confessed to the teacher I liked at the time, Arifureta.

The author chickened out in Oreimo, it's left ambiguous if those two ever got together, but there's at least still a chance for the two in Eromanga Sensei. But it's not the sort of light novel where you'll ever see any depiction of anyone consummating their relationship, we readers are just hoping those two main leads will become a real couple before the end, that's plenty enough.
Also, the fan translation may have been taken down wherever you read it, but it's ongoing and up and current with the latest 12th volume...Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody ...mc has a 'night' with the hostess at a bar(I think), quite early in storyline, only time something like that happens in the entire series(so far the official English translation goes at least). Quite surprising, considering the type of series it is...

Well, it's not as rare as you would think it is.
Here I tried compiling a list of novels where it was mentioned that MC had sex sometime in novel's continuity or there's a hard evidence in form of kids %) (It only includes licensed novels and I've probably missed a lot, too.). If we're adding unlicensed stuff, it'd be too long to count. -
@Korppi Yeah, I remembered Death March after I hit the post button. The MC does spend a lot of time in brothels, so, yeah, he's getting some there, because he sure isn't getting any from his harem of lolis.
Edit to add:
Sheesh. How could I forget about Yuuto?
And Diablo. He's gotten frisky with a couple of side characters, but I don't think he's managed to consummate his marriages with his wives. But who could forget his mana "injection" into Rem?
It was way to early when I wrote that initial message.

@Wellwisher Marielle Clarac too for JNC.
-
@nofairytale Thanks! I added it to the list (along with few more things).
-
@Wellwisher I believe that as of volume 3 we can also add, under Sol Press, Why Shouldn't A Detestable Demon Lord Fall In Love.
-
You could arguably add Lazy Dungeon Master to the list. They imply several times that Niku does sexual things to Keima while he's sleeping. They also heavily imply that Rokuko uses the Divine Futon (bedding?) to have sex with Keima in his dreams and then she makes him forget about it. Though I suppose they leave it up to the reader's imagination as to how exactly Niku helps him deal with that morning wood, and if they are going as far as sex in the dreams.

The webnovel version certainly does. The light novel version is heavily toned down, very much doubt anyone ever seriously considered including the rape she, Niku, suffered at the hands of the bandits in the very beginning, or for that matter the slow healing of the trauma from it(she had dead eyes for a while...), in it...
-
@TheGrimLich @db0ssman Thanks, added. (along with few other titles scoured on various discord servers)
-
Another one, Apothecary Diaries has an emperor's harem and a brothel as setting, two places where sex occur regularly. Maomao herself isn't getting any, but she's involved in facilitating others, from making aphrodisiacs to instructing concubines on novel techniques.
-
@Korppi The second Oreimo manga series, Kuroneko, Kyousuke returns home to his pregnant wife and kids.
Arifureta should have been the first one mentioned. :)
-
Kisetsu Morita (300 Years Killing Slimes) has A Mysterious Job Called Oda Nobunaga which I found quite boring, but it does have physical relationships.
Seriously, even if you love Killing Slimes (and I really enjoyed the first few) I'd stay away from this one unless you suffer from insomnia.

Ryoma slept with a maid loaned to him by the ruler of the territory next to his, unless I'm misremembering.

Yes. I believe he also is said to have slept with women while out with his men at brothels or something.
Monster Tamer has the main character having sex too if that wasn't covered (nothing too explicit).
And Welcome to Japan Ms Elf does as much cuddly physical closeness as it can with the clothes on in the first two volumes. Curious if that'll go there.
For Anime / LN:
White Album 2 has a very major sex scene in the anime adaptation (it's as explicit as a broadcast thing can be without showing full nudity). The Visual Novel also features this, though the all ages cleans it up a bit. I don't know what the LN version does.
-
For another JNC title, Tearmoon Empire (see Exhibit A: Miabel).
-
Ideal Sponger Life, the protagonist literally gets summoned for the purpose of making babies.
-
Admittedly, I rushed my initial message and missed several (ahem) prominent characters like Diablo and Yuuto.
I'd like to add one to the anime list. Parasyte the Maxim. My son was watching it and I remembered that the MC does get together with his GF before the end of the series.
