So facebook recommended a website to me that sells manga very cheaply (~4 - 5 a book). I was wondering how they did it when I saw in the description that they are wholesaling overstock. I'm curious if people think that buying overstock is good or bad for the industry as a whole. For those who don't know what overstock is, I'm putting it in a spoiler.

I guess for me the moral gray area comes in that these are ultimately copies that the publisher is losing money on because they didn't sell. So, buying them in a sense hurts the publisher instead of supports them since they still paid for the manufacture and distribution of the copies and aren't getting any money from them.

In terms of the industry I don't think it has a major impact. Assuming these overstock sellers are acquiring their stock legitimately, then the publishers have likely already factored them into their contracts with bookstores.
