The Evolution Fruit is definitely heavy on the comedy. Specifically, it's almost like one single, multi-volume manzai act, where the world (and everyone in it) is the boke and the main character is the tsukkomi. If that kind of comedy is not to one's tastes, I imagine it can be quite difficult to get through. Personally, though, I found it funny enough to read the web novel up to the latest chapter, even if I did find it a little tiring at times. Still, the web novel translation is pretty damn atrocious, so I'm looking forward to reading a proper translation, which I imagine will up my enjoyment quite a bit. I just hope Hanashi Media will release the volumes at a decent clip, and won't go under before finishing the series.

True. What happened to Sol Press, and the first comments on this thread from October about Hanashi Media, do make me a bit nervous about it...

They just need consistent releases with a dedicated schedule that they keep to to inspire consumer confidence.

I enjoyed both, especially Loner Life, but they feel very different in their approach to comedy. To me:
Loner Life comedy is from the MC's dialogue and to a lesser extent his situation and weird skills. It's more deadpan and more serious.
Evolution is over the top silly with many of the characters and situations being a parody of other isekai, though at the same time it has some sweetness and heart so it's not totally slapstick.
It's sort of Monty Python TV show vs. Zoolander.

Can't believe aomeone actually licensed Shinka no Mi lol. I personally like the series for being so over the top stupid funny, but I could never imagine it being actually licensed.

I lost track of this, but the Fruit of Evolution volume 1 ebook was released on August 15.
I'm starting with the sample chapter from Amazon before buying it, to see how the writing compares to the anime.

I went ahead and bought it. The anime matched it fairly well so there isn't much new but you get a bit more about his fellow students including the few that don't hate the MC, and more of his inner monologue.
That translation and editing / proofreading quality is good, on the level of Yen or JNC.

That leaves only the release speed and advertising issues. I had literally no idea v1 was out until I saw this topic's replies.

I read the first volume and enjoyed it. The translation and editing quality were great as well, certainly a good start for a new publisher.
I can't attest to the advertising issues, I thought they did fine. They had a 10-day campaign on their social media to mark the volume's release including a giveaway, after the release they introduced the team and also promoted it through the light novel subreddit.

Just finished volume 1 of The Fruit of Evolution, and they appear to have done a very good job with it.
I only came across two wrong word choices, and didn't notice an grammar or punctuation errors.
Since they actually provide a contact email on their website I've already sent them the annotated screenshots.'bearing' when it should have been 'baring'
'rebuff' where it should have been 'debuff'Not anything horrible.

I noticed those but I'm used to a wrong word or two in ebooks from all of the publishers. Even JNC now and then despite having the JNC prepub readers helping to find them.
The fatigue resistance skill was missing from the next stats table in the text after MC mentioned gaining it, but that might have been a mistake from the source text. It appeared in a later table.
That's a very small number of corrections for an entire LN.

Yeah, I just found a wrong word choice in a j novel club prepubs the other day, and it changed the meaning quite a bit. A bunch of soldiers were spear hunting quadrupedal drakes for meat, but when describing the size of the beast relative to the size of one of the characters, the epub said it was over 4 times the height of a very tall woman when it should have been 4 times the weight, which changes the description from saying it is roughly the size of a horse to saying the thing is over 25 feet tall.

I finished reading it last night. It was a pretty good "game world isekai" with a damaged MC (thanks to bullying) with damaged companions. MC is worlds more likeable and sane than what the Oversummoned MC turned into.
According to the discord, volume 2 will be out in "Q1 2023" which probably means March. If they manage that then they're doing better than Tentai.

Well they’ve scheduled Vol. 2 of Fruit of Evolution for November, which is a good sign that they’re avoiding the Sol and Tentai issue of lots of first volumes without follow-up. I think if they keep it up, we may have another genuinely legit LN publisher on our hands.
