It was just released in November.

Caught up series takes longer to get the license for the next book since Sam needs to negotiate face to face in Japan, and the coronavirus complicates things further.

Didn't know about the "needs to negotiate face to face in Japan" bit, but other than that, yeah, being caught up impacts things.

I mean, one could argue that once there is an official release date in Japan negotiations should be able to commence so long as part of what you bring to the table is that the translation isn't begun until after the Japanese edition is released (that you aren't asking for early access to the text), but that should is just my personal opinion and very non-binding upon the actual rights holders, to say the least. grin

If you can't even begin negotiations until after the official release in Japan... every step of the process other than saying in-house, "Yeah, we wanna license this puppy" is something happening after the physical copies hit the shelves in Akihabara...

          Released in November?
          It's gonna be a while.

@weasalopes Yeah, since Japan isn't allowing any visa holders into the country, "face-to-face" is probably a Zoom call.

If they (the Japanese IP right's holders) are interested in licensing stuff, yes.
I'm pretty sure they could use the revenues.
