Ring in the New Year with January Catchups!
-
While we all wish we were still on Christmas vacation, it's time to get back to work, and that means updating the catchup series for members to read!
With a new season of anime coming up, get caught up on Hajime's adventures in Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest! Betrayed and likely to die in the deep depths of a dungeon, Hajime abandons his humanity to survive. Can the people who love him help him recover it after he gets out?
In the Culinary Chronicles of the Court Flower, Rimi is sent off to be a concubine in the great empire's palace. Her only consolation is rediscovering the taste of her home country's cooking, but how does this lead to being jailed for disrespecting the emperor?!
Do you enjoy the silly romance of An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride? Time to check out your favorite scenes drawn out for the manga! Zagan, an infamous evil sorcerer, purchases a elf slave at a dark auction. Why? ...Because he fell in love with her at first sight! Unfortunately, he had no plan beyond buying her, so what next...?
We have a few short offerings for this month as well! What happens when a holy knight tries to become a dark knight... even though he can't use dark magic?! Find out in The Holy Knight's Dark Road! See what happens after a hero summoning is long over in Isekai Rebuilding Project where a city clerk is called over to clean up the hero's haphazard influence on the other world's laws and technology! Finally, The Underdog of the Eight Greater Tribes is here to turn the world on its head as Yuri, a member of the weakest tribe, shakes up the battle rankings!
There's over 30 volumes of content for members to check out now!

The Holy Knight’s Dark Road was entertaining and has a sincere and serious side along with the comedy. It's incomplete and apparently never to be continued but it reaches a good pause point without any cliffhangers.

If you haven't yet read the An Archdemon's Dilemma's LNs, the manga is a great way to dip your toes into the series. If you have read the LNs... well, read the manga too! One of my favorite parts of this manga adaptation is all the fun expressions the artist sprinkles around - I find they take full advantage of the strengths of the more visual presentation of the story.
For the curious, I've gathered a little collage of various fun (non-spoilery) expressions under the cut:

I started reading the LN when J-Novel started releasing it way back when, although not as a pre-pub thing, rather the finished volumes.
The manga, on the other hand...As I mentioned last month, they claim the catch-up works are free; all pushers make that claim, the first one is free.
Yeah, right.
Being the weak-willed fool that I am, the entire manga adaptation available to date has now been purchased. -
Pretty good selection this month. I've been meaning to check out the Archdemon's Dilemma, so I'll absolutely check out the Manga.

@killerrin - don't let the slavery part scare you off, this is not a series about the slavery fetish some authors have.
Very mild spoiler, that happens right away and the series title already gives away:

Well this is quite the treat, all of these I have read (and bought a few), but since I thoroughly enjoyed these I will definitely be rereading these, on top of the fact that a few new volumes of my favorite of some of the recent releases. J-Novel is really setting a great pace for the New Years, really appreciate all the hard work. Here’s to a new year of great light novels and manga.

Sorry for the late reminder, but catchups will be changing on Tuesday, February 1, around 11 AM PST / 2 PM EST / 1900 UTC! One day it'll all be automatic, but until that amazing future arrives, you'll have to continue dealing with manual switchovers that are affected by meetings and vacation and forgetfulness and all that jazz ;o
