Acquisitions Speculation - General

@legitpancake There is also an AX Teaser too. That makes it 10 titles, WOW! I can't wait to see what we're getting!
Seeing this new many titles means also that JNC is doing very well I think, which is another good thing to know.
-
Holy crap.
I am SO EXCITED.
-
Sam said he actually forgot 2 announcements, so it should be 12 :x
-
Seriously?
Wow!
Yeah, that's awesome. I'm really glad, as someone else said - if they're licensing stuff like this, hopefully they're doing well. :)
And with 12, bound to be quite a few I like!
-
Please, please, Seirei Gensouki and Shinwa Densetsu no Eiyuu no Isekai tan.
-
@myskaros Wait, when/where did he say that??
-
@legitpancake Discord. He'll update it when he gets home.
-
Considering we have some upcoming announcements I wonder if this thread's title is going to change.
-
@eternal-wanderer we can always mention @Fezu so he gets a Bell Notification and say "Yo! @Fezu there are 10 Confirmed Announces and soon to be 12 when Sam updates it so you probably need to change the topic Post @Fezu"
-
@Fezu, make sure to update the title. :3
Otherwise, holy fuck at the this. 12 titles. Just for scale, J-Novel Club currently has 31 licenses. That's almost 50% increase in the span of a month or so.
Yen Press has around 60-70 series currently and they only announce 1-3 light novels per convention usually.
So one of two things has happened.
- Sam has imprisoned the translators in a dungeon and is whipping them to work harder.
- Sam has perfected cloning technology and is truly our messiah.
I'm will to approve of either case. Good job @Sam-Pinansky. Just try not to spoil us too much or actually kill your translators.
-
@aruseus493 Sam has put US ALL in Stockholm Syndrome. JNC is just so great that we depend on JNC but the Translations are just so fricken fast that it hurts us. With this big Announcement Push, Sams
CultReligion of J-Novel-Club will get more followers and will grow. -
@aruseus493 there's always the choice of buying more translation hamsters and adding a few wheels. They should like the company.
-
@aruseus493
YP prints their release, so they have to look out for their print schedules.That's why they can't release as much or as fast as JNC.
It's the only advantage of the digital-only thing (but it also makes it so difficult to keep up)
-
Two of the titles to be announced are oneshots. There's also the possibility that not all of them need translations (like Isekai Mahou and Rokujouma).
-
I'm referring more to YP's other problems like how it takes 9+ months for them to release a new volume of a caught up series. Or how at this point, almost every series is delayed at least 2 weeks. Or how garbage in consistency some of their translations are. (Looks at Danmachi.)
If they can keep their original 4 month pace at least, I'd be happy. At this point though, I'd prefer if they worked to do better for the series they already have licensed. (Which is why Sam worries me sometimes with how many licenses.)
-
@aruseus493
Tbh, I haven't checked their schedule for some time now, being overwhelmed by Verical's almost-monthly release of NisiOisiN.
My recent order is mostly Vertical aside from Konosuba and Toradora.So, I don't know how late their series got aside from NGNL. (Yeah, I haven't read DanMachi yet, is it that bad?)
I was referring to how YP's announcements are fewer than JNC's tho.
-
I was referring to how YP's announcements are fewer than JNC's tho.
Ah, I was being more general in regards to how many light novel licenses are typical for publishers rather than ragging on YP for only 1-3 LN licenses per convention. This is more of J-NC being outside the norm.
-
@aruseus493
Well, to be fair, they also license Manga as well, while JNC don't.
So, they announce more than 1-3 titles. (Just they ain't novels) -
Also, Justus' month release videos are getting longer and longer that I'm starting to give up on keeping up with anything anymore.
-
JNC has a basically public and fixed schedule though, so it's obvious when they get off track. YP is sort of just nebulous. It will be quite obvious to us if adding this many new series causes scheduling issues.
