Quite a good batch of license overall, I already have all the Penguindrum novel in french so I'm not going to rebuy that one but I'm likely going to check all the other.

Do you like death, war and misery ?
Do you like badass op loli who let nobody got in their way ?
        Do you like vengeance story?
If so then then vote for The girl who ate a death god

@CaramelWithoutTheSalt Not really seeing the issue. I mean Seven Seas current stuff just isn't for you? I'm the same in that there was only 1 or 2 that I liked, however I've just cropped it up to the fact that the types of series SS likes to license nowadays are not my cup of tea, and that is fine.

I look at my shelf and most the books I buy are from either Yen Press/On or J-Novel, and its because they have the ones i'm most interested in. No point getting irritated with a company when they clearly are trying to go against the grain of what I would call popular in the mainstream sense which is good too since it gives more variety for those who do want that stuff that isn't mainstream

@caramelwithoutthesalt Question out of curiosity, roughly how many light novels released recently (let's say last two years or so) would make you excited to be licensed?

My theory regarding some discontent over recent lower-profile licenses is that most of the older, high-profile titles have either already been licensed, or have reasons why they aren't readily available, which leaves mostly lower profile options. So I'm curious how much that applies here.

Though as mentioned in the last comment, some of 7S's were likely simply targeted at a different market segment.

From what I can tell it doesn’t say either or. so I’m assuming it’s probably a mistake that they haven’t said it was print, digital, or both I have reached out on Twitter to see if they respond to me if so I’ll drop it in this thread

@caramelwithoutthesalt Well if I helped you come to some conclusion and you are satisfied with that is good.

I'll just be looking out for the announcements from Yen Press and J-Novel that the series I hope beyond all hopes that one of the 2 gets licensed finally (aka Death Mage Doesn't Want a 4th Time OR So you think someone like you can defeat the demon king?)

@caramelwithoutthesalt Thanks for the reply. Sounds like my theory doesn't apply much to your case.

@rahul-balaggan I'm honestly surprised, it usually takes Yen Press much longer than that to release a book after an announcement.

I like good ol’ fashioned manga/light novels that I can sit back, pop my earphones on, and escape the real world for a while.

In that case, I think you'll really like Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear.

Mixed feelings hearing that SOL Press got Rakudai. I'm happy that it got licensed since it's a big title that has been begging to be localized. But at the same time, SP does not have a good LN track record. It's nice they are releasing V1-3 in just two weeks on the same day (no word yet on physicals I don't think), but their distribution of paperbacks is horrendous, and everything is always out of stock on amazon (not to mention no bookstore or rightstuf), and they take nearly a full year to release volume 2 for many of their series. They have 17 volumes to go (with more probably coming out in Japan), so we'll see I guess.
                                      Also...

The following is my personal opinion fully understanding that they are trying to release this series at a decent pace.

Today is the darkest day in overseas Light Novel history...

I would have preferred any other publisher to get it, but I'm glad that at least someone picked it up.
It's always been one of the most requested series, and now I'm wondering why the other company's didn't pick it up is SP was able to.
Only thing I can think of is that the licence was too expensive for the others and SP wanted a big licence name to actually sell some books.

That will only matter if they come around to actually release the damn thing. Given their track record so far, 17 volumes and SP mix like oil and water...
