Read Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf!

Yep, already reading that. It was a nice discovery but it has only 2 volumes out thought (with the second one starting TL soon). I'd like some more similar series/content 😋

catstorm

@terabyte
There is the last of the FUNA series “saving 80,000 gold in another world” the MC in that one travels back and forth At will.

Rahul Balaggan

@catstorm I think you may have missed Tera’s previous comment where he expresses interest for 80K and also expresses trepidation at Sol’s ability to deliver.

Terabyte

@rahul-balaggan Indeed 😁

catstorm

@terabyte

Oh, I'm sure it'll be in typesetting on their blog before you know it...

=(

Rahul Balaggan

@terrence yeah maybe when they actually acknowledge that they locked up the license to VRMMO Academy, cause it still ain’t listed under Light Novel on their Site.

@rahul-balaggan Kinda of fills you with confidence. Not really.

Hyperion

Yen Press announced the license of Keigo Higashino's novel The Miracles of the Namiya General Store. I'm so excited that they're continuing to branch out from lights novels to license Japanese literature/novels.

the green death

@hyperion That is freaking awesome news! Instant buy for me and it sounds really good!

I am just in the middle of Higashino’s latest Dectective Kaga mystery “The Newcomer” and it’s fantastic!

I’ve read the majority of his translated works and he is the writer who got me intonations Japanese fiction with the wonderful “Devotion of Suspect X”

Hyperion

@the-green-death
I've been interested in trying his work when I discovered it a little while ago. My library has a number of his books on Overdrive. Would you recommend The Devotion of Suspect X as a good entry point for the author?

the green death

@hyperion Yeah it’s a great start, still my favorite and I’ve read it twice and plan to read it again soon. It’s very much a mystery so you won’t like it if you don’t like mysteries and it’s also very much a Japanese mystery in that it’s pretty slow-paced. What’s cool is you know who did it from the start but you don’t know the how and it’s a book that plays fair with the answers even though I certainly didn’t predict the ending.

Hyperion

@the-green-death
Sounds good, I'll give it a read. Thanks for the input.

So... Did the Yen PR team mess up in announcing that Higashino work on Twitter too early or was there a typo in the announcement or something? Tweet is supposedly gone without a trace now.

Early April Fool's joke gone wrong? xD

...

T_T

It still is listed on their site, so...

Maybe someone will finally pick up Kino's Journey, since they have the manga and stuff.

chrollo

It's probably some more Nisio Isin stuff.

artistofmanga

I'm a big fan of his work so hopefully we get some cool stuff, I'd love to see his crossover series get licensed for english speakers.

DoubleMangekyo

I just want them to finish Zaregoto...
