Acquisitions Speculation - General

@theredjet thanks for the information,
-
@yumenokage Apparently it's from the author of "I want to eat your pancreas" so it could be really good
-
Much better than my list

I feel like they are not listening to what the fans want and are filling the markets with what they can get on the cheap. I have not heard of any of these titles while titles we have been clamoring for have yet to be picked up.
- Just because "fans" want it doesn't mean it would be profitable.
- Just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean other people didn't want it.

Truth be told the last 5 or so Licensing batches from yen 7 seas and J Novel have been super disappointing, I feel like they are not listening to what the fans want and are filling the markets with what they can get on the cheap. I have not heard of any of these titles while titles we have been clamoring for have yet to be picked up.
I can't see how you could come to that conclusion when Sevens Sea license "Mushoku Tensei" which a huge part of the community had been asking for for years, "Classroom of the elite" which was also on a lot of people wish list and "Reincarnated as a sword" which while less popular still had a somewhat big fanbase.
Same for JNC, they just give us "Ascendance of a bookworm" which so many people have asked for, "Full metal panic!" which is kind of a classic, "I shall survive using potion" which as one of FUNA series was requested by quite a lot of people.
If you look at the Licensing request you will see that quite a number of series between the 35~20 have been licensed.I mean how has death mage who does not want a 4th time not get licensed every one I have talked wants that one big time.
Sure "The death mage..." is quite popular but that doesn’t mean it's a good idea to license it, it could be a situation similar to Highschool DxD.
Also, it's nitpicky, but not everyone wants it, I sure don't and I have read the WN up to the orc empire arc.My fear is if these companies don’t start listening to what there fans want and pushing what they can get on the cheap there going to head into an industry crash
You seem to confuse what you want and what the community as a whole want cause nearly every company has "recently" license really popular series (JNC: Ascendance of a bookworm; Yen: 86; SS: Mushoku Tensei).

So the hints were that one is a story that involves a demon lord, or has "demon lord" in the title, he mentioned there were a lot of titles that involved demon lords, The other was hard to understand. Either a rescue or a title that everyone thought that they would never get, but somehow they got it.
-
Let’s all remember that this is a topic to discuss speculation of potential future licenses, if you wanna talk about how you feel about already licensed novels make a new topic.
Also let’s all remember to be respectful of each other’s opinions, what one individual may consider to be “good” & “popular”, may not fit everyone’s definition of those terms.
-
With one of the hints being about Demon Lords while he was talking about how many there are, I'm betting on that Demon Lord Academy which just got the manga licensed from Square Enix. Seems like a shoe-in for a licensed LN.
-
Assassins status and reincarnated demon lord is not bad, but its disappointing that they licensed manga instead of light novel.
-
@myskaros An example for number 1: High School DxD Lots of fans would love to see licensed LN, but several people have explained why it probably wouldn't be profitable.
Number 2 seems to be where JNC excels, though I can't think of any standout examples.
Looking forward to see what comes out tonight. If I can stay up that late, I might watch the livestream.
-
I have faith in you, JNC-chan! Maybe not a Bunny Girl-level but I do believe this time the announcements won't be all about other worlds and their demon lords.
...
Inb4 we get a weird mishmash of yuri, otome and BL. -
Sams hints were very vague can’t wait for the news from the panel
The demon lord title could be any number of LN my top two guesses
Realist Maou ni yoru Seiiki naki Isekai, kind fits with realist hero theme and is in line with allot other titles j novel has
The Demon Lord’s building a city! The strongest Dungeon is a modern day city, seven seas has the manga license and I know two companies will Some times coordinate and license different products of the same IP to feed into each other’s fan base
As for the project that is a license that they never thought they would get my thought is recently in a bunch of the fan groups I am a part of there is a ton of interest in titles from Alpha Polis, maybe Sam an company finally cracked that shell and got a licenses from them

@ant13099
I was looking for those hints but couldn't find them. Where are they? -
@lighthawk96 just scroll up to @Timmaaah’s last comment.
-
@legitpancake
Got it! Thanks! But yeah, pretty vauge at best. We'll just have to wait and see. -
@timmaaah A title no one thought they would get (or anyone would want, given the reaction to the anime).
Eromanga Sensei
Popular in Japan. A Kadokawa title. Possibly complete at 10 volumes. Considered complete trash in most English-speaking markets.
Yes, I'm being a bit of a troll with that title. I could have gone with another title by the same author. Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai That would be worse.
Remember, JNC did license JK Haru. Two volumes, in fact.
EDITED TO ADD:
Not completed. Volume 11 came out in January, and my gut is saying that's not going to be the final volume. -

Only 6 hours until our panel at #animeexpo2019!
Come join us at 5:30 PM in LP3, 408AB! We've got double digits worth of announcements for you! -
I'm not sure double digit announcements means double digit new licenses, some of those announcements could just be physical releases for existing series, still I'd love to be wrong.
-
@timmaaah I'm kind of hoping that second one is a rescue. I feel like that's what I need right now after waking up this morning and finding out Harmony Gold was able to renew their Macross license again.
Whatever they announce, I don't think it would be hard for JNC to come out on top as far as I'm concerned. The only thing I'm interested in out of everyone else's announcements is Bunny Girl Senpai.

It could also be something like announcing that we will be able to buy manga with credits here instead of having to go elsewhere. Something I'm actually hoping for.

With what Sam said on Curious Cat recently, a premium manga annoucement seems quite likely.
