Acquisitions Speculation - General

Terrence

No Tomozaki-kun PR confirmation yet?

They did announce A Sister Is all You Need digital.

Hyperion

@terrence
Unfortunately not today. Maybe they're waiting until its release next month?

Aruseus493

I think they didn't announce the digital listing of Tomozaki because most people aren't like us that know about publisher restrictions. I mean, they have a digital listing for it on their site. But for the average reader, they probably wouldn't realize it wasn't getting a digital release before.

Hyperion

@aruseus493
Only those who prefer digital would care I guess. I find it interesting that Yen Press specifically mentioned Shogakukan in the original post and not left it as "here's 4 manga/light novels we got digital for." Most people probably don't care about the Japanese publisher or would even know what it meant to get digital from them.

Terrence

Yeah, I was surprised too.

The bigger thing that this does is potentially signal that this may open that publisher up to working with Western licensors who have to have digital versions alongside any physical release (like JNC and seemingly Sol Press).

TheRedJet

Yen Press is suddenly anouncing 3 new licences for December...now lets wait if there is a LN!! :D

Nosgoroth

Did we know that Tomozaki gets digital? I asked Yen Press on Twitter and they said it will.

Terrence

It was hinted at by listings, but they didn't confirm it in the previous digital announcements of that label's books.

Crimson Wise

Terrence

I've heard some publishers say they won't be recording (per Anime Expo rules?). So I don't know how much video content there will be this year. =[

HarunaChieP

I'll wait for the news and if someone livetweets the announcements, the better especially if recording is not possible

Aruseus493

@crimson-wise

Don't forget Square Enix since they recently announced their entry into Manga/LN Publishing for the English Market.

Square Enix - July 05, 16:00 PDT / 23:00 UTC

I know some people are going to be super hyped about bunny girl but overall this set of announcements seems super disappointing to me.

@dargonsunited I stopped caring about convention announcements a few years ago. We're in the internet age, there's no point to delay an announcement for a convention that has limited exposure vs. the unlimited amount of people that can share something instantly through the internet at any time.
