@gocav Tokyo Otaku Mode has the "streaming" rights to Beatless, and they've contracted JNC to do the translation. You can read the prepubs only as a TOM premium member. JNC will be publishing the ebooks in 2020.

Whoever said nothing's impossible never tried slamming a revolving door.

I'll be curious to see how their reader is.

TOM Premium itself sounds interesting. You get 110% cash back if you do the 90 day auto renewal thingie (so you effectively get 10% free cash, and your money back to spend on site?)?

Gotta say I hope the novel version of Maou Sama Retry is better than the anime has been so far. Really the only reason I remember the first episode is because the female lead looks like a blonde version of Rem from Re:Zero.

Never unhappy to see licenses for stuff that isn't heavily requested. Usually that just means it flew under people's radars. Given this is a translation group, most of the people who come here do so because they aren't fluent enough to read the raws. Hence most readers have a high degree of ignorance when it comes to what all is out there. I think it is less that we aren't getting the titles we wanted and more that we are getting the titles we never knew we wanted. Just have to go into it with an open mind.

Crowdsourcing for print runs seems like a cool idea. Probably more efficient for expressing interest than buying the ebooks. I'm sure there are people who would glady dump more than the $200 worth of ebooks if it meant a print run and this provides a better outlet for them to do that.

Most excited for the Kickstarter if that’s a big hit you might see j novel do more of them for some other passion projects or harder to get licenses

@ant13099 well, Sam said he didn't intend to do it for licenses and thinks that's a bad idea in principle, so we probably won't be seeing Kickstarter Kino's Journey anytime soon

License Wishlist: Kino's Journey, Crest/Banner anthology, SukaMoka
Favorite JNC Series: Bookworm, Faraway Paladin, Dendro, Grimgar, Crest/Banner of the Stars, Tearmoon Empire, Skull Dragon's Precious Daughter, Apothecary Diaries, Otome Heroine's Fight

                  @eternal-wanderer

It was pretty generic/weak. But I’ll give it more than a couple of episodes before I write it off (and I’ll read the LNs regardless, smartphone and ragnarok both had pretty lousy anime’s but the LNs are very good)

                  I read banned books

So Altina, Isekai Maou's author and Isekai Mahou's original illustrator. I'll definitely take a look. Perhaps the illustrator was able to put insert illustrations this time.

As for Rokujouma, I love the series. Hopefully there will be a way to back the digital/bonus stuff since I don't buy physical stuff. I don't have a place to put 31 33 freaking volumes!

                    Quof got a break.

@yumenokage misspoke a bit I more meant if the Kickstarter is a big hit than the funds it brings into J Novel will allow them to get more licenses and do more passion projects

@terrence Will have to see if I still have a TOM membership... Used them to buy most of the To Love-Ru Darkness manga... Ordered the last of those just a few days before the English editions were announced.

@raitoiro That's true, although to be fair, they are still 31 volumes worth of content. Well, actually 33, since I wasn't counting 7.5 and 8.5. Volume 32 was also just released in Japan so it keeps growing...

@ant13099 there would have to be a massive & I mean MASSIVE amount of money for that to be true.

If they hit the 50K goal that will allow V1 - V31 to be put out physically, if they make more money that will all go towards the stretch goals (like the box & Drama CDs). So they would have to theoretically clear all of the stretch goals and then make even more money on top of that for then to say hey let’s use this cash to license more stuff.

Not to mention if they do clear all stretch goals and make extra money anything on top would probably be ear marked to be used for future volumes of Rokujouma to be put out physically.

Sorry but J-Novel Club does not publicly comment on any potential licensing decision or acquisitions.

Wasn't as good as I hoped, especially after the amazing last year's AX, but I suppose it wasn't as bad as I feared either. An okay batch. On a first glance will at least read Altina.

Overall this AX was really underwhelming in terms of ranobe announcements, huh. Oh well, at least we finally have some closure with Bunny Girl.

Regarding Beatless, does anyone know what the difference is between the 2012 release and the two volumes they released last year? Are those rereleases that got split up for the anime?

Most exciting announcement for me was Otherside Picnic and the Rokujouma kickstarter. It is nice to see that JNC is completing Beatless for us too.

Just Bakemonogatari audiobooks and Owarimonogatari cover reveal

I wasn't really sure if the audiobooks were financially successful enough for Vertical, but I'm glad to see that they are continuing with them. They're even hiring multiple performers per volume.

So, nothing I'm immediately excited about, but a bunch of unknows (for me) that might be good once I try them. Bring it on, I say, release those previews.

There's likely no differences between the 2 releases, except for the number of volumes, Jp publisher seems to prefer a higher number of smaler books nowday, they did something similar to Shiki and Shinsekai yori
