Acquisitions Speculation - General
-
Holy...
That was extremely unexpected. I have to say Yen Press truly delivered this time. Personally I am interested in 3 novels:
-
Highschool DxD - well, not all that much needs to be said about this one
-
I Was Kicked out of the Hero’s Party Because I Wasn’t a True Companion so I Decided to Have a Slow Life at the Frontier - seems to be a fun, laid back SoL series
-
Excalibur Acadamy - this is actually the author of "Seirei tsukai no Blade Dance", its his new series. I saw it as a potential candidate when it was announced as his new work, and it seems it was a good guess. The story seems interesting enough, and the art seems good, but I honestly don't know how to feel about the protagonist being 10 year old. Hopefully he will grow up as the story progresses.
All that is left now I guess is JNC. I don't know how they will stack up to YP but I really hope for some SoL.

Is anyone going to stream J-Novel’s panel?
-
@malloc Usually @Rahul-Balaggan streams it. Not sure if he will this time too though.
-
@malloc Soleone asked on Twitter and apparently there will be a stream

Well that was a disappointing set of announcements for me, but the best news of the day was DxD got licensed and YP hit a few others I wanted so I'm still happy.
-
Sam didn't lie when it said that it woukd be unknown titles but the whole Legend line up look great, I'm really hype for all of them.
I really don't care about JNC heart tho, aside from the first one (beheading queen resonate with my french spirit ^^).
Also that isekai doujin look really cool.
Overall it look like a great batch of series, I hope most turn out to be as good as they look. -
I'm particularly happy there's going to be more shoujo released. The Legends label seems interesting, especially that Isekai Rebuilding Project one.
-
Several titles are fantasy and potentially have expansive world and over-arching plots. This is good enough. Still hoping that Assassin Pride will be licensed soon.
-
So what titles did JNC licence? I kinda came in half way through the stream.

@lighthawk96 A summary is available here for now: https://old.reddit.com/r/LightNovels/comments/dxemc6/news_jnovel_club_anime_nyc_2019_livestream/

@terabyte Thanks for that. A four letter word called work kept me from getting to the stream on time. LOL!

Not going to lie whenever I watch one of these streams I'm always looking for titles I will recognize and in that sense this stream was somewhat of a disappointment to me. It didn't have that "we got this big license that you've wanted for so long" moment. On the other hand you can't get those every time and some of the stuff licensed sounds really interesting. For example Tearmoon Empire sounds very promising to me.
-
to me the more interesting seeming ones are the JNCH(Shoujo Novel Club) such as
- The Tales of Marielle Clarac
- The Bibliophile Princess
- Fukushuu wo Chikatta Shironeko wa Ryuuou no Hiza no Ue de Damin wo Musaboru (The Vengeful White Cat Lounging on the Dragon King's Lap)
- I Refuse to be your Enemy!
compared to maybe 3 regular titles that seemed interesting
- The Economics of Prophecy
- The World's Least Interesting Master Swordsman
- Her Majesty's Swarm
but at the very least will need to try out the other titles to see if they're entertaining, who knows some might turn out as good as Mixed Bathing in Another Dimension (weird but good series)
-
I only know about The World's Least Interesting Master Swordsman and Fukushuu wo Chikatta Shironeko wa Ryuuou no Hiza no Ue de Damin wo Musaboru because I have been reading their manga versions, they are okay but not too exciting.
I wonder why they silently released By the grace of the gods only a few weeks before the event, since I think this title will generate more excitement. Maybe they want to focus on their new partnerships and label during this event? -
I guess I'll have to rely on the tags for these (I tend to like comedy tagged series) -- because based on the short descriptions nothing really jumps out at me. But then again I went into Realist Hero not expecting much and it is one of my favorites... so you never know.
