Acquisitions Speculation - General
-
I Actually think I've done really well out of this round of announcements from J novel and Yen press getting 10 new titles across both that i have varying degrees of interest in. My wallets not going to thank me though because ouch is this going to start to hurt, I might have to start being a bit more discerning with my purchases.
These are the ones I'm likely yo pick up.
The Economics of Prophecy
Isekai Rebuilding Project
The World's Least Interesting Master Swordsman
Tearmoon Empire
I Refuse to Be Your Enemy!
The White Cat’s Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King’s Lapand from Yen
High School DxD
High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World!
The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy
Banished from the Heroes’ Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside -
So far I've read all the current new ones out except for Outer Ragna and The Economics of Prophecy one.
Out of the batch my favorites have been probably a toss up between Teogonia or Tearmoon Empire, both for different reasons.I like the to be power fantasy that Teogonia seems to going to build towards, and for Tearmoon the silly situations occurring around the main character due to her creating misunderstandings with all her subjects.
However, I will say that I did not dislike any of them so far, I'll have to read a complete volume to make a full verdict on whether or not I want to continue certain ones or not.

Personally, I like several that were announced. 4 of the 5 shojo seem really interesting to me, especially White Cat's Revenge. I was really happy with Grace of the Gods. There were more that I am interested in. Since the announcement of Yen press for that one looked almost the same as J-Novel, it appeared like they might have been working together on their respective announcement. I assume Yen Press is releasing the manga since J-Novel is releasing the Light Novel.
A lot of the announcements on Yen Press that I found didn't specify if it was manga or light novel.
I also thought it was interesting to hear how many translators and editors J-Novel has working for them. They have really grown in the last three years. Sure they pick some novels I am not interest in, but in reality so long as they pick ones that are profitable then that means they can grow even more and possibly license more that I am interested in.

@rahul-balaggan Thanks, I stand corrected on who licensed Grace of the Gods. I think it was Square Enix that didn't seem to say whether they licensed manga or lightnovels as well so sorry to Yen Press for saying that about them.
-
Did I misunderstand something, or did Sam announce that they licensed more than the 5 already known shoujo light novels?
-
Yes they announced 5 new Shoujo titles, 2 of which are still being finalized.

@rahul-balaggan And let's not forget the surprise 6th title: Can Someone Please Explain What’s Going On?! 😉
-
@terabyte I really hope there will be more surprise titles than just this one. I‘m not really interested in 'Can Someone Please Explain What’s Going On?!', although 'Tearmoon Empire', The 'White Cat‘s Revenge as Plotted from the Dragon King‘s Lap', 'The Tales of Marielle Clarac' and 'The Bibliophile Princess' are a total highlight for me. I totally hope, that JNC will license more of such great titles.

Just noticed this tweet (from a J-Novel Club translator): https://twitter.com/DistantValhalla/status/1232386752045867012
"Semi-related to that subject, I'm thinking announcements within the next month for sure. Keep your eyes peeled, folks. Got some fun stuff inbound."
-
@ghdpro Sorry to spoil your excitement, but those announcements will be for projects with other clients! I've got my hands full as far as J-Novel goes for the time being.
-
Well I hope for Monster girls series of any kind.

This post is deleted! -
My Big Sister Lives in a Fantasy World had me hopeful we'd get more monster girl stuff. Alas, only demon lords (tbf, there are some nekomimi and demon girls in certain series too). =P

@Rahul-Balaggan Aw yeah, get me that announcement hype. Almost three weeks to go, but I'm not complaining. It's something to look forward to while stuck home.
Three slots in the announcement page. Does that translate to three announcements or is it a fuzzy kind of thing?

The first hint is up!
-
for those of us who don't just want to follow on twitter
the first hint is: "Kiss little Snow White goodbye!"my initial guess would be : Akagami no Shirayukihime , or Snow White with Red Hair, which I was not aware had a LN adaptation, but was an enjoyable anime (maybe I'm being too literal?)
I read banned books
