Acquisitions Speculation - General

[BartzBB]

This is unexpected.

I was hoping that JNC would announce new titles on their anniversary next month.

Are these like appetizers before the main course on the anniversary?

SERIES 2 HINT:
Sometimes it's just as exciting to watch.

There was another guess a few posts up which also makes a lot of sense, but I thought of a second title that also fits... Ascendance of a Bookworm: Royal Academy Gaiden 1. It's a book of third party PoV side stories, which means it's all people watching Rozemyne rather than her usual self-narration.

[TheGrimLich]

@pcj While I really want that one, I don't see it realistically starting prepub before P4V4 since IIRC it was released after P4V4 in Japan, and any licenses start prepub the day of the announcement.

[pcj]

@thegrimlich yeah, you're right. It's too soon to announce even if they did get it.

Actually there's evidence against that, specifically for the Bookworm Fanbook. It started prepub on the 5th of March as per the first post in volume thread, but was announced as licensed on the 23rd of February based on this post in the licensing request. Date may be off slightly due to timezones, but close enough.

I don't expect it to start yet myself, but if they plan to start it within a month or so, it's not impossible that they decided it shouldn't wait to their next batch of licenses.

So here are my last minute predictions:

Series 1: no idea

Series 2: Endo and Kobayashi’s Live Commentary on the Villainess

Series 3: Don't know, but given the hint maybe Heat the Pig Liver?

Series 4: hopefully either The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady or Fake Saint Of The Year

Stay tuned to find out if I was right or horribly wrong!

I posted what I think the solution to hint 1 is on discord, along with some absolutely mad speculation about what it means.

Okay, Sam's comments yesterday got me thinking. The implication to me was that we haven't actually gotten close to the essence of #1 yet. And that sent me down a Google hole that led to...Spaceballs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5drjr9PmTMA I feel like this has to be what it's invoking.

Mad speculation time: I can't think of any light novels with anything like "Spaceballs" in the title. If the context of the scene matters, which is they're watching a video of the completed film in order to re-enact it, that brings to mind the meme, the legend, Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon. If it's hinting at something like Spaceballs...Tenchi Muyo?

Some really great licenses revealed really looking forward to them.

[ShipTeaser]

Yeah one pretty high profile licence. And the others look interesting and definitely worth a try

[Lily Garden]

@rahul-balaggan @Sam-Pinansky could we please get an explanation of the hints?

Thank you, and thanks for all the new licenses and new prints!

SERIES 1:
When? Now!

SERIES 2:
Sometimes it's just as exciting to watch.

Reference to the story

SERIES 3:
A transient parting.

Reference to the title

SERIES 4:
Not actually an otome game!

Dumb joke because the title has "Duke's Daughter" in it

[Lily Garden]

@myskaros Thanks!

Also, Faraway Paladin is a Print Release?!?!?! YESSSSS!!!!! I have wanted a print release for this series back when I first read it on my library's Overdrive app, back before I even knew what Jnovel was.

I had two simultaneous reactions to this announcement:

[Lily Garden]

@lily-garden so I only got 1 of 4 right, which was about what I was expecting

[SleepyTexan]

I only guessed Endo but I'm pleasantly surprised to see Private Tutor to the Duke's Daughter which was also on my wishlist.

Zero Believers Goddess looks interesting so I hope I end up liking it as much as the last titles announced.

[ehmk]

I’m so happy I’ve been waiting for the goddess with zero believers to be licensed forever

[Silver Sugar Duchess]

Will there be hints again, or not this time?

[myskaros]

@silver-sugar-duchess Unfortunately, we are completely swamped getting things ready to go for AnimeNYC, so we just don't really have time to do hints this round :(

[Silver Sugar Duchess]

@myskaros What a pity, it is always so much fun guessing the new titles.

[lighthawk96]

As long as one of the releases is this title, I'll be happy.

Isekai de Tochi o Katte Noujou o Tsukurou

Let's Buy the Land And Cultivate in a Different World

異世界で土地を買って農場を作ろう

All the same name, but I would really like to see this June get licensed! Pretty Please!
