@terrence I decided to skip some series entirely and others I will do like you and wait for a free week to read them. In the beginning, I was reading a lot of them not because I enjoyed them, but because I could and wanted to read everything before expiring. Then I started reading them by the ebooks and I find it more enjoyable since I only buy the ones that I like (some exceptions).

I don't necessarily need something new, but is more than welcome

@pmf96 I read more by Ebook now too, though with Paying to Win and Insekai Smartphone I am trying to read prepubescent as I don't know that I want to pay for either but find them entertaining reads all the same ( and I want to get some mileage out of my premium membership!)

@terrence I am in the minority as I like Asterisk War because it's breezy and surprisingly fun despite its reliance on tropes. I'll usually read the latest volume within a month of release.

@the-green-death I'm buying Paying to win since is short, up to 5/6 volumes I think... and I do enjoy it. Not much though.
I was considering dropping Smartphone, but one comment that I saw on YouTube left me curious to read volume 3.

overall, despite me not reading the prepubs I feel like I have not been spending that much money. I try to buy at least 2 credis a month, which goes around $23 with the premium membership. That gives me 3 credits, where each e-book costs less than $8. I think that's good. And the more I buy the less each e-book costs

@pmf96 $8 a pop isn't too much and it is nice to support J-Novel so I may follow suit with how you do it. 3 a month is probably how many I'll go through anyhow.

Just out of curiosity (not to go too far off the rails in this thread) but which titles do you follow?

@the-green-death Well, I usually try to start the series that are still being published or almost catching up, after some time. It kinda is one of the reasons that I'm quite behind in them.

Well, the last that I read was volume 4 of Mixed bathing. I say this a lot, but is a series that I enjoy way more than I should... also I just realized that I caught up, and it seems that J-Novel also already caught up. I had not realized this. Really should have started it later

I put everything inside the spoilers so it wouldn't take too much space.

I have a love / hate relationship with Grimgar because of the reoccurring joke gags they do, and the pace (less so the broader pace, I don't mind that they're going to stay noobs for a while, moreso the pace of specific scenes and waste of time lines with Ranta + co).

@terrence that's exactly how I feel. Having op characters can get boring sometimes (depends on the plot tbh, and also if the author is skilled enough to pull it off). I love Grimgar because we see actual character progression in which it is totally possible and not just straight up a huge power creep.

@the-green-death I have to agree that Haruhiro was really annoying( in volume 4). I'd love to see more of the other characters thoughts. Like Ranta, sometimes I wonder what the hell he thinks. But it's still my favorite novel here :p

@imilyaz I think(I read the translation before JNC licensed Grimgar) volume 2 gave us a POV of Ranta and it made me hate him less, but I still find him extremely annoying. Specially on the volumes after 2.

@terrence omg haha how could I forget her. My memory is vague, but I remember a part where

                                    spoiler
It was both hilarious and confusing. (Don't know if it's even worth putting in a spoiler tag)

On that note, why does some characters like to refer to themselves as third person? She isn't the first person I've seen doing that. At first I wondered if there was some deeper meaning behind it, linking it with that the only thing they rememberd about themselevs was their names when they arrived at Grimgar. But then I rememberd it happens from time to time. Like Kuro Usagi from Mondaiji-tachi

@imilyaz Character who speak in third person is usually used to show their childishness or arrogance. The ditz usually use it too.

Thank you! I was starting to think that I was the one that liked him  I just find him that lovable jerk. Plus, despite the way that he behaves he kinda is helpful and has worries like everyone else. The problem is that his jerkiness overshadows that

Sam also said there are 2 new publishers involved on Discord, so that makes guessing a bit trickier. It might still be reasonable to assume Kadokawa (the big one with a controlling share in Yen Press) would still be out of reach for the moment, if just because assuming so allows a huge chunk of potential titles to be crossed out.
