Acquisitions Speculation - General
-
I've seen people mention Death Need Round for the first clue. That could fit with both the money and "'round" part of the clue.
-
Following up on the Death Need Round clue, I saw someone posted this on twitter:
I know it's just a PV, but it looks pretty damn cool. Kinda cool that Overlap was making PVs at all.
-
@lazyproblems She's sitting on a hamburger... What is this madness?
The trigger and the music and some scary mascot (clown) make me think of Danganronpa, but I'm just going based on the pictures in that video. I hope we get something like that (the preview is probably all about cupcakes and sunshine in text though, and I'm completely misreading that).
Wait...wait... Is that Ronald Mcdonald and it's a fastfood place? xP
-
@Terrence Haha, yeah, simply based off of the pv this does sort of have a similar sort of psychopop feel to it, like Danganronpa. Supposedly the heroine needs money to pay off family debt, so she becomes a mercenary. Her first target is supposed to be the familiar looking Fast Food mascot. :fries:
This looks like it could be both a fun and serious series, so I'd be all for it.
-
Sounds interesting. :hamburger: :hotdog:
-
@lazyproblems Yeah I looked into that series... You realize that the title itself is a pun on "Disney Land"?
It's nuts, but... it didn't seem that good, like... edgy in a bad way? I could take another look at it, though! (i.e. that's not what the clue is)
-
@Sam-Pinansky "It's nuts, but... it didn't seem that good, like... edgy in a bad way?"
Like Danganronpa and Future Diary? Sign me up. xD
I think I can guess what you mean by edgy in a bad way, but I can't say I'm not interested in the absurdity. I deal with a lot of bad edginess these days too in my media (Game of Thrones, Attack on Titan, Akame ga Kiru). Sometimes these popular series take the over the top edge too seriously.
-
@Terrence Maybe I'm just afraid of licensing a book whose premise is about assassinating mascots of very powerful multinational corporations, okay?! I DONT WANNA DIE
-
@Sam-Pinansky ahh, ok. Yeah, I could see how it could be maybe turn out to be a bit too edgy and melodramatic. The ridiculousness looks like it could be fun, maybe somewhere down the road it might be worth looking into.
-
Ok. When will we get the answer? We waited long enough, I think.
It'd better be 100yen shop and realist hero's kingdom.
-
@Phil99 I'm waiting on cover approvals to announce...
-
I hope it's not machi o tsukuru/the ability to make town... Reviews bomb that title
-
I updated the thread of the current status of further aquisitions. Enjoy!
-
Everyone...let the speculation COMMENCE!!!!
-
I for one am hoping that we're going to see some new license distributors whether it'd be from Kadokawas' own bunkos or if KyoAni was interested in planning out a deal for some of their own unlicensed published light novel series.
Either way, I am super excited. But I am also wary that it might not be licenses and something else instead. Either way, positive news about J-novel always gets' me going and I am looking forward to whatever it is.
Also, I was surprised when I saw that in Steiner's portfolio. But I never say no to possibly more Steiner translations. Definitely not!
-
Well, I will be happy for Rakudai license, but I guess that I want too much.
-
@sparhawk6 you're not alone
-
I'd love for another print run announcement with Seven Seas (Smartphone is getting an anime...).
However, the way the tweet is presented makes me think that they've made a deal with another publisher. Looking forward to whatever the announcement ends up being.
-
I just realized the announcement might not be anything, considering it's going to be on April Fools possibly. Welp we took the bait. Haha!
-
@Fezu In b4 "My Toilet Bowl is an Isekai".
Edit: Did you post their latest Tweet in response to a reviewer on Twitter?
"I advise if you're announcing anything big to NOT do it on April 1st,. for obvious reasons. :)"
"Yes, anything we'd announce on April 1st would have to be really special."
Hmm... We've been had? xD
