Cross-Dressing Villainess Cecilia Sylvie
-
Another recent release of a reincarnated-as-a-book/game-villain(ess) title.
Volume 1 starts out with the realization that the protagonist of the novel, Cecilia, is now living in a world based on a game she was playing around the time she died, and that none of the possible futures are in her favor; no matter what happens to the game protagonist, Lean, Cecilia dies. Only the manner and time changes.
The twist is that, to survive, she stops being herself, instead creating a male replacement character, Cecil, to attend the academy where the game happens. To pull it off, she recruits her adopted younger brother.
But, she is Bakarina-dense about the affections of other characters. After all, they're guys, right? They couldn't POSSIBLY fall for Cecil. And the girls that surround him are just responding to "his" attempts to seem manly.
Virtually everything Cecilia/Cecil does to deflect attention and make her less-susceptible to violent death fails. "Ah, this is the event where ... happens to the protagonist" all too often becomes "Wait, what? Why was it ME?"
The ending of v1 has some twists that are a bit difficult to see coming. It's another of those books like Forget Being the Villainess, I Want to Be an Adventurer! that could be complete in one volume, but fortunately has more to go. They also share a plot point.
I'm looking forward to the next volume.

Yeah I enjoyed this quite a lot, and if anyone knows any similar ones let me know smile
It can certainly manage another volume but I do worry it could get stale like Bakarina if it goes on too long as the premise cannot hold indefinitely

It'll be interesting to see where Vo.02 goes after the ending where one character found something so funny.

@kurosov There's still #3 to find, and the Killer still lurks. And the dangerous love interests that surround Cecilia...
At least I can pre-order v2 (4/19 release) now, instead of having to periodically check for some of the other (non-JNC) titles I'm waiting for.

@someoldguy This one I struggled with at first, because it seemed TOO close to the Bakarina mold, but I'm glad I made it, well worth it.

@windsagio Cecilia's first encounter with her prince was more entertaining than Katarina's...
