So when looking at the translations for English, a series such as Highschool DXD is likely to do 4 volumes a year unless it might change at points correct?
As for other series will Date A Live have the same pass, as both YENON
While Arifureta is translated by Seven seas Entertainment Print while J-Novel Club is translating the digital. it varied by 3 or 2 for digital vs 3 a year print
So pretty much it depends on the specific series how many volumes it has and when it got picked up to be translated, right?
I ask this, in order to time when to buy the volumes, depending on how many series I'd like to read. Since Money is a thing one needs to use in a balanced way.

I'd say 3-4 a year is probably pretty standard for longer series. It depends on a lot of factors, like the pace on the Japanese side and contract approvals as well as what you already mentioned. All you can really do is keep an eye on new listings.
Ftr, Seven Seas is just doing the physical publishing for Arifureta, they're not changing JNC's translation.

It probably depends on if the series is caught up as well. 3-4 might be standard while a series is catching up, and some Japanese authors are releasing that many LN volumes a year, I think the average is at a slower pace, generally 1-2 volumes a year for most series and some authors have multiple series ongoing which could slow things down further depending on what they're choosing to focus on.

@jpwong I have seen Authors with more than one series, and with how long it does take to translate light novels it is understandable.

Yeah, 3-4 per year is more or less the usual pacing, aside from speed monsters like Quof who translates Bookworm, which releases like 5 books a year.
You also have to take into account that sometimes there can be issues during the licensing process, as every book is licensed separately. So even if you have a steady pace for a while, it can get delayed, like it's currently happening with the next volume of Wortenia.
On Arifureta's case, it's slowed down because they are caught up, so they release along with the Japanese releases, since they caught up they are more or less starting to release pre-pubs around a month or 2 after the JP release.

Quof's crazy pace is more like >6 books a year for Bookworm:
Apr 12 2021 = P4 V1 P1
May 6 2021 = P3 V5 RelApr 11 2022 = P4 V7 P3
Apr 20 2022 = P4 V6 Rel -
@tomorr0w If volumes maintain an 8 part structure and there's no unforeseen delays or breaks, bookworm will turn out 6.5 volumes a year at least until we catch up with the Japanese release, though they appear to be publishing 3-4 volumes a year in Japan still.

@jpwong Yeah, given the predictions of when the JP pub will finish up and where we are in relation to it, it'll finish up before we catch up.
