Slayers print omnibus covers
-
Hi! If this isn't the right forum for this, please let me know.
I'd like to know the process of thinking behind the novel covers for the Slayers omnibus. I spotted a pre-order for vol. 7-9 and it is still sticking to the same pattern as the other two volumes: using the first third of the mural image for those three books.
This is really, really jarring, because this means we're going to have our second cover in a row featuring Amelia (and Zel with her). Don't get me wrong, I love me some Amelia, and she's my third-favorite character in the series. But why are other parts of the mural not being used? Because of how these covers are constructed, you don't have to maintain a wraparound.
It makes far better sense for the third omnibus to feature the novel 8 cover, given that everything in the series at that point is building up to the events of that novel. Or even the novel 9 cover where Luke and Mileena are introduced and we see the start of their story.
It's only going to get more complicated with the next two books. Like the fifth omnibus: it would be a real shame not to feature the novel 15 cover with Lina and Gourry, as much as I got a kick out of Memphis and Mephy. And for the fourth omnibus, it has to be Sherra, which is the 12th novel cover. If you keep using the first image of each mural, you won't even get a cover featuring Gourry, who is the other character of the series besides Lina to be in all of the main novels.
Is the designer of these covers not familiar with the series? Is there any way we can lobby for change regarding this?

@savvyliterate We do actually have to try and maintain the wrap-around. The full spread is also, as always, going to be included as a fold-out.
Also, the images being posted with the solicitation are - especially for omnibi - not final.
