@Geezer-Weasalopes I got such deja vu at the start of this episode. Took me a good few minutes to realize it was from the latest manga chapters, not that these scenes were in previous episodes.

Darnit—after I said all those nice things last week—they pulled up an episode that forces me to put on my critic’s hat again. To start—it was not a bad episode—and if you haven’t read the LN it might even be a good episode—but as a reader of the LN there was not much that added to my enjoyment. We had Mia’s reactions, which are nice—but everything else felt mostly like it was checking boxes—we have to put this in to get to the next episode. And to make things worse—we see a motionless Anne through almost the entire episode! At least in the books when Anne isn’t doing anything, I am not forced to watch her not doing anything—but to go through an entire episode with her just there—standing still it was torture (now I am just sad—I think I have to go and rewatch episode 6 again so I can watch Anne make some horsey ears)

Mia chases Little Gil away! Yay!
A much better episode. The pacing was nice. Dion’s personality felt a bit deeper. We got to see the Emperor and the Rudolvon’s! And the narrator was more of a character in this one, too!
And I can even be a little thankful for the sort of rushed prior episode, because… -

@pcj
That’s right! -
I had the displeasure of reading through the /r/anime episode discussion threads; the first few had many people suggesting Mia really deserved to die...
Episode 7 was honestly the most painful to watch, with how much was cut, but it seems like it was necessary to keep the pacing after, since episode 8 was pretty good. Man, I really miss 26 episode anime. I'm a bit sad we missed out on the scene with Anne and Ludwig though.

Yeah, once they decided to cover both volumes in just one season—I suppose something like episode 7 was inevitable. But they’ve done some pretty great things with the other episodes—I mean completely recreating the LN was not going to happen—but they did make Mia and Anne come to life—and they have me enjoying the anime in different ways than the LN.

I thought they wanted help getting botanist boy (BB) into the academy because it was the best school, but it turns out that it's the only school?? Mia's Princess Town school-to-be, of as yet unknown quality, allows BB to learn away from possibly cruel nobles... and nothing like that exists already???
-
@arghc There are other schools, as far as I'm aware. It's just that none of them measure up to Saint Noel, whether it be in prestige, academics, or connections.
-
@arghc As @TheGrimLich surmises, there likely are other academies running around, but none compare well with Saint Noel.
Not academically or in the connections one can form...if a ranking noble.
Saint Noel is the place to attend. If a ranking noble. If you aren't...it's expensive and your kids are miserable and you dearly wish there was a good alternative. We've already seen how lower rank nobles and commoners are treated by a number of those of higher rank, despite any official policies stressing such not occur.
So establishing an institution of higher education within the Empire aimed at providing an equivalent education to those who aren't in the highest levels of society does what Princess Mia desires (cutting down on any brain drain and thumbing her nose at Rafina) while at the same time providing something Count Rudolvon desires (a far more pleasant place for his son to study which is also way closer to home, less expensive as a result and will accept the Lulu tribesmen and others as well) and something Viscount Berman desires (prestige...but also income to his viscounty provided it's a success due to where it will be located); if successful it will be beneficial to the Empire as a whole...and if those of lower rank from out-country also start attending, hey, improved connections within the region.
If Rafina doesn't mind a competing institution it could make things easier for her by decreasing the instances of upper level nobles bullying those of lower rank because there would be fewer of lower rank present.
There's also that those of lower rank are more likely to be focusing on academics and research; they have a different payout in mind from what the upper nobles seek.
It might become quite the hive of research and technological advancement...with the Tearmoon Empire being first to benefit from the results.Once again Princess Mia stumbles her way to 'brilliance' in the eyes of those observing...including those who have been targeting the Empire from the shadows...wait, what?!
Hey! Where'd they come from?! -

Botanist Boy's dad's thought processes didn't seem to indicate that there were any alternatives and also didn't turn towards any thoughts of quality. I don't remember Mia saying anything about quality either.

Of course, producing high quality is easier said that done and might need to involve poaching teachers from St. Noel.

Although, she's now pals with Rafina and so doesn't need to thumb her nose? 8-)

Hey! Where'd they come from?!The shadowy cabal is indeed curious. 8-)

I don't think I need a spoiler tag to say that
But I am forced to err on the side of caution, since I sort of hate spoilers.

Yay! We are back on track with another excellent episode!
Well-paced and a nice complement to the novel.
The impromptu tea party with Chloe and Rafina was well played and well integrated into the episode. The actual announcement of the revolution was arguably more dramatic than what was in the book—to see it played out was very nice.Oh, and after watching the episode, I have another update to my next imaginary live-action cast for Tearmoon —or the english dub at least. Muzic the hunter is definitely the late, great Ed Asner. Listen to the Japanese voice actor and imagine Ed’s voice—tell me if you can’t un-hear it.
(Ed Asner; Old Guy from Up!, Lou Grant, Granny Goodness, etc.) -
@jazzyjeoff I dunno, I think I'd cast Patrick Warburton, personally.

Nope! He’s Vanos—definitely Vanos!
Though, I suppose you could argue that he should still get the nod—with him actually being alive and everything. -
@jazzyjeoff We finally got that last person in the OP introduced. Wasn't it the Renmo chancellor?
Also, the blond man behind Mia, isn't that the emperor?@jazzyjeoff said in Tearmoon Empire - Anime Discussion:

…and the biggie!I don't know how to quote while still putting in your links. Nor can I add images.

Yeppers!
No longer missing…Dasayev Donovon!I don't think anyone got him. Honestly, even if I was thinking about Remno, I still might have missed him. It might be interesting if they flesh him out more in the Amime than in the novel.

...after giving it some thought...
I kinda want to see what Chris Sabat (a.k.a. Vegeta) would do with Vanos.
