So I read manga on JNC’s website while on Safari, and 9/10 times whenever I try to read a chapter it fails to load and Safari forces a restart before the chapter finishes loading or, it doesn’t load the page altogether giving me a message that just says an error?

My internet is fine, I’ve turned it off and on just to get a few chapters to work but this consistently keeps happening?
Is there something that I’ve missed, please help.

Some ways I’ve tried to get it to work successfully are switching from Landscape mode to Portrait and vice-versa, which has actually seen some results but not really reliable, another is trying to stop Safari from forcefully reloading the reader view by turning off my WiFi for a brief second while loading, this has also worked a few times, and the last one I’ve tried is reloading but as the progress bar moves on Safari, I pause it or hold it to allow the chapters to load. Many hits and misses and it’s getting really annoying, I really need to help.

Have you tried using a different browser? Have you tried clearing your cache and cookies, or logging into JNC via incognito/private browsing mode?

I just tried reading 5-6 different parts from random series (both LN and manga) I've never read before in Safari, both part 1s (which are free) and part 2+s (which require a sub) and they all load just fine in both paginated and vertical mode. That leads me to believe that it's not a general issue with Safari but instead some kind of complication specific to you. It could either be your browser (hence the questions above), or it might be related to your internet connection, specifically there could be a relay node down between your location and our server or something weird like that. In the latter case, you could also maybe try using a VPN to see if that changes anything.

@Lonely_Fog It probably runs out of RAM. Depending on circumstances it could attempt to allocate several gigabytes and waiting/minimizin/switching tabs may trigger some cleanup.

"different browser" isn't really a thing on iOS, unfortunately.

I mean, my iPhone app store lets me download all of Opera, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc...

@myskaros And all of them have to use Safari's WebKit engine anyway.

@_08 Checking browser usage is just a basic troubleshooting question. If loading manga works in a different browser, then even if we can't identify a fix for Safari, at least we've identified a workaround.

@Lonely_Fog Might want to list which apple device you're using. I know some people have complained about this issue before and it seems like it's a RAM problem, but someone may be able to replicate the issue if they know what hardware you're using. I think last time this came up the user reported using the app worked fine, so if you really want to read on your phone, you may want to see if that's an option.

Yeah... from my own experience, it's not a Safari issue, it's an iPad Safari issue. Works just fine on Mac Safari, not on iPad Safari. (Haven't tried manga on the iPhone because the screen's way too small.)

...Cats are the proof of a higher purpose to the universe.

Unfortunately yes, I’ve tried all the method, and it doesn’t seem like it’s working well for me and yes, I’m reading this on IPad’s Safari and if that the case I’m just shit outta luck
I’ll just get used to it

I also have troubles reading manga at JNC. I have an iPad. I have tried multiple Wi-Fi sources, restarting the iPad, and switching between manga. Luckily it works maybe 60% of the time. I often look at manga titles, sigh, and go back to LNs.

@John-W Have you downloaded our app? That should work better.
