@Pieta said in "Enough with This Slow Life!" I think this is one the most disappointing reads so far:

Others mentioned the mother being an elf, but besides that, those are great points. If you know you want to adopt a baby, you don't pick them at your convenience and make somebody else care for them in the meantime. Picking them up at the earliest would be way better.

The only thing here is that it's unclear who dictated the timeline. There's 3 parties involved in this, the mother/village chief, Airena and Acer. The text specifically calls out that the mother and village chief want him to take the kid as soon as he was old enough to leave his mother. That would indicate they dictated the earliest they would let the kid go and that they wanted it done as fast as possible after that. Airena seems to have actually gone and retrieved Win from the village and then met up with Acer at a designated location.

That's true, but I think the story would have to touch on that if it was interested in the situation beyond "wouldn't it be cool to adopt a baby". Since the book seemed to have zero interest in who Win's mother was as a person or how she was doing, it skipped over all of that and it comes off weird as a result.

@Pieta Well who knows, the story very may well circle back to it at some point if he ever ends up visiting an actual eleven settlement. That said, it was mentioned on the discord that it looks like this series has just ended in Japan on volume 8.
