Phoenix is among Osamu Tezuka's most famous manga, running from 1967 until shortly before his death in 1989. In 2021, Kazuki Sakuraba delivered a brand new storyline in the form of a novel. Set in China during World War II, this story is inspired by Tezuka's unused notes.

With "Pluto" available in English and "Team Phoenix" coming later this year, the demand for Tezuka fanfiction clearly exists outside Japan. Phoenix in particular will be getting more attention with the release of a Disney+ anime. Sakuraba has proven her talent as the author of Gosick, with a couple of her more obscure novels already licensed by Viz. Phoenix can be the next.
