Is there a volume 15 of The Ideal Sponger Life for light novel?
-
This is one of my fav series and I really got into it 2 years ago. I was super happy when j-novel picked it up and have been doing a great job so far (with relatively very minor errors in translation).
However, I noticed that in the original light novel has been stuck with vol 14 since 2021. It feels like the series has been dropped because I haven't heard any news about it.
Are there any news about vol 15?

@what4evaa it would help a lot if you mentioned the title of the series in your post. Just asking if there's a Volume 15 is not very helpful if no one knows which series you're referring to😉

@Lily-Garden I assumed the tag would've sufficed. Guess not..
Thank you for letting me know :)

Mobile view of the forum doesn't have the tags appear.
No news on V15 for Sponger Life, but the series as a whole has a very slow publishing rate in Japan relative to a lot of other LNs (average of more than 8 months between volumes as opposed to many that get ~3 months), so I'm not as concerned with this one as I would be others. It's definitely not a great sight though.

Their post of 2021.09.30 on Narou announcing the release of LN Volume 14 commented that it had been a long time between volumes, more than they would have liked, and they hoped the next wasn't as great.
Volume 13 had released on 2020.03.30, some 18 months previous.
If one looks at the publication dates for the various volumes one notices a steady increase in the amount of time between volumes, although the increase between 13 and 14 was significantly more than the previous intervals.2021.09.30 + 18 months would be 2023.05.?
Hero Bunko doesn't show Volume 15 available as of yet, but I'd say it's too early to call it dropped/cancelled/whateverThere hasn't been a post from them at Narou since, but the previous posts had all been in conjunction with the release of a new LN volume.
I haven't been able to confirm another media platform they use for messages. The LN illustrator is also the illustrator for Spice & Wolf, and that seems the focus of their Twitter these days.
The Japanese Wikipedia page related to the franchise indicates the LN series as ongoing, for whatever that may be worth.

@LurkingMcLurk with how fast the story is progressing, I'm guessing my grandkids will be able to finish the series....
Thanks for taking the time to answer!

@Geezer-Weasalopes This is a more detailed answer than I could ever hope for. Thanks so much for looking at multiple sources and compiling them here!

Really not sure when the Author plans to release LN Vol.15, as even the Manga adaptation is slowly catching up as well, since with the latest release of Chapter 76 (released on August 4, 2023 in Japan), the Manga has covered the plot until the end of LN Vol.11 (the pace of the Manga adaptation is quite fast, as it's skipping a lot of stuff, especially those related to the Maids).
I am sure that if it goes at this speed, the Manga might catch up with the current available LN Volume plot by 2025 (since it's spending around approx. 8 Chapters per LN Volume). -
Volume 15 has suddenly been listed with a 12/28 release date in JP.
