Release schedule unreliability :( Smartphone.

@rahul-balaggan Aisha is the cutest full stop lmao
(Taking down notes from harem MC even though LN=/ real life)
-
@rahul-balaggan Aisha... OMG! Dying...
-
Just my opinion, but I think that the is a difference between an actual harem story, and what I call a "harem-like" story. The distinguishing factor is how the MC responds to his "admirers". In a real harem story, he (for simplicity) returns, or is at least conflicted over returning, their affections. In a harem-like story, he doesn't return the affection, or may actually reject it from no more than one of the girls.
My classifications:
Smartphone - harem
Diamaou - harem-like
Rokujouma - harem
Mixed Bathing - leaning towards harem
Neechuu - harem-like
Outlook Company - potential harem
Watafuta - possible reverse harem
Bluesteel Blasphemer - harem-like
Realist - harem
(BTW, those are listed in the order I read them. No ranking implied.) -
@terrence Agreed Soma has me directing all my eye rolls firmly at him. Don't talk to the audience about "blue b***s" if your going to ignore EVERY single advance after.
Like the birth mortality hook. I would have been good with that, but the writer abandoned it almost as soon as he broached it.
Plus!! I have a mad scientist and a real doctor and contraception never comes up? At least mention it being hard to perfect or something to address it.
Idle harems are suppose to be funny, like smartphone, if your not being funny then do something like Mushoku and hook up.
-
@hyferzftw Not sure when it was inferred for someone not to use their own discretion. Its a FORUM.
-
@d-l You're kidding, right? No? Moron meter is pegged.
-
@d-l But contraception does come up. Souma mentions that Marx wouldn't allow him to use it until there is a heir.
And after child mortality was solved, Souma explicitly states that he's not ready to be a farther yet.
But I'd expect some progress as soon as Liscia formally makes him.

Makes him what? King? Her husband? To be ready?
Frankly, I was a bit disappointed that everyone sort of fell asleep in volume 3, even though (slightly adult comment)
Disappointed, but hardly surprised. Most harem are more chaste than an average romance novel.
Frankly, I'd be willing to bet that Aisha gets pregnant before Liscia.

@paul-nebeling Frigging autocorrupt. I meant to write marry, but make. Because considering how medieval European the society is, you'd expect the deed to be done in the wedding night.
As for the charity of harems: that really depends. R18 titles like Sister New Devil feature their fate share of more steamy content, titles like Mixed Bathing keep it to a more wholesome level and thing like Infinite Stratos and Little Apocalypse purposefully have neutron star density protagonist.
And then you have No Game No Life, lambshading its censored ecchi.
-
@jaquobus In the discussion of the anime for Arifureta, I thought I saw that "things" happen there. I'm not looking for anything explicit, but sometimes I feel like I'm watching a 50's TV show where married couples sleep in separate twin beds.
-
-
@shiroi-hane As I know the origin of lampshading, it cannot be an eggcorn. So either a typo or a Freudian slip, considering that a nookie is Schäferstündchen in German (literally, roughly: shepherd's hour).
-
@paul-nebeling If you don’t mind me spoiling the end of the first volume of Arifureta...
I’m really curious to see as to how White Fox is going to adapt this.Edit: Also, what the heck has this thread evolved into haha. OP talked about the inconsistency of Smartphone releases, now we’re talking about the chastity of harem protagonists? Lol not that I’m complaining.
-
@legitpancake Well, Smartphone is a harem, and Touya is a bit unreliable where the girls are concerned, so... (snicker)
For dealing with "that", I'm expecting something along the lines of how SAO dealt with it. Although it wasn't that much more detailed in the LN. A bit does get said between that first punch being thrown and the scene on the bedroom.
I'm sure that Sam will have a catch-up on Arifureta sooner or later.
-
@Terrence It's great that it becomes an issue later, and I'm going to assume it's related to dukes, nobles, or people who hold positions of real power. What I'm talking about is middle level managers and low level bureaucrats who will never amount to anything, but have a small little piece of power that they will hold onto until their dying breath. I don't believe that the protagonist would've been able to get a single reform through. What the protagonist did in a single year would realistically take 5 to 20.
As it stands, a white haired otaku and his girlfriends using modern weaponry made from fantasy metals and magic to defeat an army of make believe creatures by themselves is more plausible to me.
-
@paul-nebeling I was wrong, this isn't fun to bother with at all. You win, you own the forum.
-
@d-l How about this... life happens, people get sick or other things happen that take priority over getting a light novel translated within the schedule you feel should be maintained. So if they don't meet this schedule you threaten to pull your subscription... hmmm... how to put this... Suck it up Buttercup!! Life happens, these folks work like dogs to try and meet their schedules, but sometimes life intervenes and they simply can't meet the scheduled dates. Get used to it and politely wait until your sections become available. Am I disappointed when something doesn't come out as scheduled? Sure, but I also understand that sometimes it can't be helped and will simply wait until the section becomes available. Just makes it all that much better for having waited for it.

@paul-nebeling NAILED IT!!!!!!

@redknight1322 Thanks
