Thoughts:
I’m going to be honest, I suggested this because I recently saw news that Italian publisher Nippon Shock just licensed the series - this is after French publisher Noeve announced they were going to pick up the manga, but got cold feet due to a bunch of different issues. But they’re all issues that J Novel Club has dealt with before.
A manga that’s 17 years old and over 30 volumes? JNC has tried licensing older titles and longer manga in the past just to see how they’d work. The manga has great action, amazing characters, but sexualizes younger characters? We already have Gushing Over Magical Girls as a precedent.
I’m not stupid, I know that there are a bunch of reasons why an acquisition like this is highly unlikely - most manga originals outside of Gushing don’t sell well, and neither do severely old properties like Earl & Fairy. But JNC always tries to swing for the fences anyway, so if you ever talk with Futabasha and they go “oh look at our manga it’s doing so well if only someone licensed it” I’m just saying, the idea’s there.
